Area Profile

The travelling botanist, Strobell, entered Argentina on an expedition and stayed in a region he named the 'Valley of the Yellow Firewoods' in 1860. More than 100 years later, as a result of numerous studies, the Valley of the Yellow Firewoods was choosen as a place best suited to be a ski center in 1979. In January of 1983 construction of the ski center had begun. By July of that year, the center opened with a hotel with 300 beds. Today, Las Lenas boasts one of the longest slopes in the world (a combination of three intermediate trails) and is one of the largest destination resorts in Argentina.

Las Leñas has several accommodation facilities such as an exclusive five-star hotel, apart-hotels, apartments and dormy-houses, restaurants, an international casino, and a disco.

Snow bus service, ski and snowboard academy offers private and group lessons, workshops for experts, childcare programs, 3 high-mountain restaurants, casino, and an evironmental museum.

Area Recreation Profile

You'll find 40 miles of trails, with 12 lifts, including a quad and six doubles. Over half a million acres of off-piste skiing are available. Also available is mountaing climbing, cross country and a tubing park.

Snowboarding Profile

There are 26 trails open to rider and the new The new Thor 02 terrain park is located between the Minerva stage and the Minerva 3 trail. The total run is 0.9 miles. There is a boarder cross and 0.3 miles of obstacles, jumps, bumps and much more. Thor 02 features terrain for all abilities.
