The "Unterberg" is the local ski area for the small town of Kössen. It belongs, as does its neighbour the "Zahmer Kaiser", to the few absolutely snow-sure addresses in Tyrol. A long, but fast single-stage six-person lift up to the Unterberghorn starts at 640m above sea level, ends at 1,480m above sea level, an ascent of m,ore than 700 vertical metres. The lift transports between 1,200 and 1,600 people per hour. With pistes continuing up to 1,700m and artificially snow cover on runs down top the valley, as well as another nice lifts to choose from, the "Unterberg" is ranked as one of the better ski centres in the Tyrol's lowlands.
