Big White has an average of 24.5 feet of snow every year. The locals call it "Hero's" snow because it makes you look so good. Big White sits at the same elevation as Whistler's. You will find 16 lifts including an 8-passenger high-speed Leitner gondola, four high-speed detachable quad chairs and a children's wonder carpet. New for 2006/07: The Snow Ghost, longest six-passenger express chairlift in Canada. It's a $7 million Leitner-Poma whizbang meant to service the Ridge area. Snow Ghost will increase overall capacity at the Ridge to 5,400 skier/snowboarders per hour. Located parallel to the Ridge Rocket Express. It'll be 6190 feet (1862 metres). If Big White's natural terrain isn't enough, check out their terrain parks and beginner freestyle park areas. Overall, there's 7,355 acres to play in.
Big White has four village hotels, 25 condominium buildings, 244 private chalets, and two hostels, room for 15,000 on-mountain guests. Many buildings feature hot tubs, saunas, underground parking and fireplaces. There is also an RV park on-site with 32 hookups.
Seventeen restaurants, cafes, delis, and eight lounges/bars. Grocery/liquor store and gift shop are located in Whitefoot Lodge. Walk-in clinic. Open 3-6pm, 7 days a week. New for 2006/07: A 450 foot Magic Carpet is being installed in the beginner area at the Happy Valley, replacing the handle-tow and nearly tripling the length of the beginner zone.
Mountain and snowmobile tours, helicopter tours, ski and snowboarding school, largest tube park in North America, ice skating, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and dog sledding.
The $2.5 million Telus Terrain Park includes an Olympic-size 500-foot-long Super Pipe with 17-foot transitional walls that meets FIS World Cup and X Games standards, a 400-foot standard sized halfpipe with 12-foot transitional walls, a Boarder/Skier-Cross course, separate beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced lanes in the rail park, and all this will be lit for night sessions.
Twenty five kilometers (15.5 miles) of cross country. Some are track set.
