Area Profile

With a base elevation of 7,800 feet, Kirkwood is the highest starting point of any major resort in Lake Tahoe. Locals and fans say Kirkwood catches the best snowstorms streaming in to the Sierra. There are 2,300 acres for skiing and riding, 65 trails, two high speed quads and top to bottom snowmaking on four runs.

Cross country rental and repair available at area. Cross country children's trail and lessons. Lessons offered for racing, cross country, powder, Junior. and children's programs. Children's ski lessons for ages 4-12 and snowboard lessons for ages 7-12. Child care available for children ages 2 years to 6 years.

Snowboarding Profile

Kirkwood's expanded terrain parks are a big draw. AdventureLand features gentle rollers and ski-through tunnels for youngsters. The playground includes a halfpipe, small jumps and great banked turns and rollers. And Stomping Grounds, the resort's main park, features longer lines with great flow and a 22' Mountain Dew Superpipe.

Cross Country Profile

Eighty kilometers of groomed track. Three interconnected trail system. All trails double-tracked with skating lanes. Dogs allowed on two trails. Two trailhead facilities with parking areas. Classic, skating, and telemark equipment rental. Snowshoe rental.
