Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort spreads its extensive trail network over thousands of acres of wilderness in the High Sierra. It brands itself as "North America's largest cross country ski resort" and with 9,000 acres of skiable terrain and 600 inches of average annual snowfall, few people argue the point.

Engadine Café and Sierra Cocktail Lounge are housed in the historic Rainbow Lodge, Wilderness Lodge has a trailside cafe, Summit Station has a trailside cafe, 10 warming huts on the trails, access to Sugarbowl ski area and cafe from the Van Norden and Ice Lake track system. Lessons and rentals are available. Lodge packages include hot tub and saunas, buffets for breakfast and lunch, and a candlelit dinner. 15 km of snowmaking.
Sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and skating. Ski joring now on Saturdays and Sundays in March. Royal Gorge is just west of Lake Tahoe and approximately 45 minutes from Reno, offering additional restaurants, hotels, casinos, and more.
