Squaw Valley USA, site of the VIII Winter Olympic Games in 1960, is a legendary vacation destination plunked down squarely at the end of a gorgeous Sierra valley. Squaw's terrain may seem endless to those trying to conquer it, with thirty-three lifts, including North America's only Funitel and an aerial Cable Car, access six peaks, 4,000 acres and 2,850 vertical feet of terrain.
The Village was built with the inviting ambiance of a European style mountain village and features the sort of restaurants, shops, and support services skiers expect to find when visiting such a venerable area.
New for 2007/08: The resort has replaced the uber-popular Shirley Lake detachable quad with a high-speed Doppelmayr six pack (the new lift will follow the traditional line, loading and unloading at the usual spots). The Riviera superpipe, which has been dug out of the ground, will be surrounded with lights, giving Squaw the only night-time access superpipe in the Tahoe area.
