This mountain looms out of downtown Aspen. Locals call it Ajax and this is the Aspen area's true performance ski mountain. Don't bring you're game here if you are a beginner; there's nothing for you here. But there are plenty of intermediate trails and challenging black diamonds. The longest run is three miles. There is Snowcat skiing on the back side. Little Nell's is still the place to gather at the base.
Eight thousand beds at the base of the mountain and 6,000 additional beds within 12 minutes. Free shuttle bus service to all ski areas.
Restaurants and cafeterias. More than 100 restaurants of every variety in town. Town of Aspen has full services, ski shops, boutiques, drug, liquor store, bank, post office, chapel, etc. Childcare for ages 6 weeks and up. Aspen Valley Hospital 2 miles away. Ski instructions include racing; powder; women's ski seminars; workshops; kids' programs 12 months-19 years.
Cross country, ice fishing, ice skating, indoor tennis, mountaineering, sleigh riding, snowcat powder skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoe tours.
Snowboarding is allowed including a terrain park.
