Saddleback Ski Area opened in 1960. Even though the area receives an average of 186 inches of snow per year, 85 percent of Saddleback's 132 skiable acres is covered by snowmaking in the event Mother Nature is not as generous every year. Skiing or boarding terrain is almost equally distributed between beginner (35 percent) and intermediate (30 percent) and advanced (35 percent) runs. Give its longest run--2.5 miles--a try. The resort has added four new trails/glades for 2005/06, and is offering new condominiums for sale.
Accommodations for 400 in trailside condominiums. Variety of inns and other condos are available in Rangeley.
Restaurant, lounge,and ski shop at area. Lessons and rentals available. Childcare available for children 2 to 6 years, nursery available for children under 2.
Cross country skiing, ice skating, glade runs, sledding and snowmobiling. Special kids' races on sundays, snowboarding park, and NASTAR racing.
Snowboarding allowed on all runs. Terrain park.
