Sugarloaf has ranked at or near the top of many lists for its challenging terrain, as well as having had the distinction of being named the #1 ski and snowboard resort in the East in recent years. Its snowfields are legendary and their halfpipe is one of the largest in the country. Sugarloaf has the only lift-served above-treeline skiing in the East. The resort has invested in a new Zaugg halfpipe cutter , new snowmaking lines, and a renovated ski rental shop for 2005/06. It will also host the 2006 U.S. Alpine Championships.
Ski village at the base of lifts, 119 unit hotel, and camper parking. Shuttle bus service available mornings and afternoons, 7,100 beds within 16 miles.
Ski shop, teen center, grocery, boutique, bank, chapel, spa, and laundromat at the area. First aid building on the mountain. Child care available. Glades - 11 percent of the terrain. The entire mountain is open to both skiers and snowboarders. Many restaurants, ski and snowboard shops, health clubs, and an art gallery close by. Ninety-four percent snowmaking on 490 acres.
