Remembered as a strong novice area, Bretton Woods has been busily acquiring more terrain and fleshing out its runs to attract Black Diamond skiers to its two mountains. Bretton Woods fields a 1,500 foot vertical drop and 434 acres of terrain with nine lifts serving 101 trails and glades. Despite all the black diamond additions, Bretton Woods is still a family favorite, very modern in style, and is famous for hosting the International Monetary Conference of yore. The resort has invested in snowmaking pumps and guns, and a new groomer this season. Nearby, is The Mount Washington Cog Railway Ski Trains. The 135-year old steam engines take skiers and riders part way up Mount Washington to groomed trails running parallel to the train trestle.
