Area Profile
Holiday Valley has been in operation for more than 45 years and they're still going strong. The area has 53 trails marked 35 percent for beginners, 27 percent intermediates, and 38 percent advanced skiers. The area has invested more than $5 million in new equipment, better snowmaking gear, guest room renovations, terrain park and pipe improvements, additional lighting and Web site improvements. Free WI-FI is also now available in all base lodges.
Lodging Profile
Lodging available for approximately 2,000 people. A slopeside 102-room inn featuring a heated indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. Over 300 area condominiums and townhouses and ski lodges are in Ellicottville, including the new Wyngate Hotel, and several bed and breakfasts are within a two-mile radius.
Services Profile
Three cafeterias, coffee shop, restaurant, four bars, free mountain tours and village shuttle bus on weekends, and a rental shop for skis, radios, snowshoes, snowboards, and ski blades. The village has 15 bars and restaurants, seven ski shops, 10 gift shops, and a historical center walking tour.
Area Recreation Profile
Snowshoeing, tubing and sleigh rides nearby, nighttime entertainment at many local bars, and several artists studios with a large outdoor sculpture park nearby.
Snowboarding Profile
All 53 slopes are open to snowboarders, along with two terrain parks, a boardercross course and two halfpipes. Rentals and lessons for various ages are available and several competitions are scheduled throughout the season.
Cross Country Profile
Five kilometers of packed trails along the base of the resort and the ridgeline at the top of the mountain. Mountain trails connect to state forests and logging roads. Nearby Alegany State Park also has several miles of trails. Snowshoeing is available along with rentals and lessons.
