The seven mountains of Killington are all interconnected by a system of 87 miles of trails. Killington is the largest ski resort in the eastern United States, with the widest variety of terrain. The vertical drop is a very impressive 3,050 feet-- the greatest in New England. Killington has the nation's most extensive snowmaking system.
After a $2 million investment in snowmaking, a food court and an employee training program during the summer of '04, infrastructure improvements continued during summer 2005. These include more than $1 million in snowmaking upgrades - including the replacement of more than 15,000 feet of snowmaking infrastructure at both Killington and Pico Mountain - new carpet and rubber non-slip flooring at the K-1, Bear Mountain and Ramshead Lodges, 100 new tower-mounted Low Energy snowguns, and six new Bombardier grooming machines.Accommodations for 5,000 within walking distance in condominiums, suites, and hotel rooms. More than 100 different lodges and condominiums nearby service 1,800 people plus chalets. Overnight camper parking is available with no hook-ups.
Killington combines more than 100 restaurants and bars, a new resort village slated for groundbreaking next summer, smiling, and friendly employees sporting new LL Bean uniforms. Ski and snowboard lessons and rentals. Six ski shops with boutiques, drug and liquor stores, grocery, post office, and gas nearby. Full daycare and medical facility on site.
Ice fishing, ice skating, indoor tennis, movies, and snowmobiling nearby. Sleigh riding, cross country, snowshoeing, tubing, snowboarding, swimming, tobogganing, spa, health club, and fun park.
Snowboarding is allowed. Six terrain parks, including early-season features on "Reason," medium terrain features on "Ramshead" and large signature terrain on "Bear Mountain." Killington's most prominent addition to Bear Mountain last year was the SoBe Superpipe. With 18-foot walls an 18-degree pitch and a length of 430-feet, the SoBe Superpipe is one of the few true Superpipes in the country that is equipped with a rope-tow and can be seen from the lodge deck at the base of the mountain. Killington has one of the largest snowboarding instructional programs in the country, and has snowboarding events throughout the season.
