Snow held up well today after last nights reset, the maze was the obvious area of choice all morning, endless fresh tracks, could always be found. Though even after lunch played around summit on most of the runs and even though obviously chopped up the snow was keeping well still soft and not overly slow at all, one of the better days this season at falls, so far ........

currawong: For the XCers at Falls apparently there is an app that lets you see a GPS track of where the groomer has been. It costs ($15 pa I think ).
Details of this can be obtained at Windy Corner XC hire.

Yep. The groomer's work and current position are now also displayed on a screen in Windy Corner cafe.

mick chopps: that'll test the commitment...
I'll enjoy the hit out once feeling returns to the hands and feet. And I stop shivering. And the nose stops running :skier:.

Ziggy: Windy Cnr at the moment ... cold wind, medium vis, some fresh. Trying to muster the enthusiasm to put the skinny skis on.

Ziggy: Yeah should be. The Road 24 side had had a visit from the sled brigade. Wasn't pretty.
Slednecks ?

mick chopps: Don't imagine a couple of southerlies have done it much good. Might be looking a bit better by the weekend!

Ziggy: Past it last Thurs mc. Some good clear slopes down lower (SW side; Road 24 side); variable up high.

BilbyBill: I was sad to see Headwater closed, it was a great area for skiers or boarders to transition from the beginner runs to more advanced terrain.
It was a really nice little adventure to take people over there on a nice day. Some nice safe schussing to get there, uncrowded slope with some interesting variation. and an alternative way back to the village from ruined castle without the need to climb Real pity it's gone

Ziggy: My involvement has always been in XC and resort telemark but the times I bought lift tickets for the kids it was great to sit and watch them play in the village bowl or to let them loose in Headwater.

currawong: IIRC at one stage they got a GS course homologated from summit down inter. They thought that it would bring more international squads to train here. (The Austrian team, juniors maybe, did indeed train there one year). They couldn't get the homologation with the lift there. Lift co would have been happy to have 1 less lift anyway. In the time that I have been skiing at falls we have lost Village Big Dipper (arguably covered by ruined castle chair) Headwater Link Dog Patch Baby pomas half of Playground
Me too, I first went to Falls Creek in 1985.
