And only one set of traffic lights once on the Hume until Jindy. I hate traffic lights.

Only an opinion piece but very hard hitting. Much the same stuff but good advertising for a book https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/barilaro-s-brumby-bill-has-been-a-catastrophe-for-the-high-country-20210620-p582jy.html#comments When Barilaro speaks of a “war against our history and our...

    the BC chatter thread

I have seen bushfire fighting from many angles, including the air. NSW does it very different to Victoria. Much more hands on on the fire line in NSW. During the last fire in Vic I was on the fire line for a bit. The CFA stood around with their hands in the pockets and well away from the fire...

I understand how problematic all this would be but it will only take one positive travelling to Falls to stuff the whole season. East Gippsland is big but more of a problem for Hotham than Falls. I get your point though. It will be a struggle for FCRM to manage as is but if people do not do the...

I am with you on this. A bit of solidarity with Melbourne people from the regions. Travel is unrestricted now so the whole state should be included if they want to go to resorts. Unfortunately the resorts can't make their own call on this. I do think a negative test 72 hours old is not a...

Whatever happens it is going to be a test for the whole state. There are so many things that can go wrong. One slip up and the season could be cancelled. One person thinking selfishly and COVID could spread over a much broader area. It will also be a huge test for the resorts.

I am not sure those thinking about psychological stress claims have ever thought about the cost of assessment and ongoing treatment. A big rush on psychologists with people all claiming the same problem and all starting at the same time. Thinking out the process of their complaint is not a...

To think if something like this was legitimate then the entire country could be suing the governments. If they are suffering mental stress now then wait till the shooting starts. To be fair. He did not lose his High Court case. Just the two Supreme court matters prior and then 'did a deal' on...

Mt. Beauty? That is beyond their jurisdiction. Also see it creating a bit of a problem for local traffic. Whoever wrote the information here may want to do some editing. https://www.fallscreek.com.au/wp-content/uploads/sites/36/2020/04/210616-Table-of-Restrictions.pdf Children under 2 excempt...

And the morons wanting to protect these horses are now looking at a class action suit against the government for 'psychological mental anguish & stress for the aggressive indiscriminate Trapping & Slaughter of Our Iconic Heritage Brumbies' I think Fakebook is more to blame for mental stress...

The Federal legislation has a requirement for states to enact similar legislation to protect the environment and has handed over the responsibility. It may require some legislative change. Perhaps the states were given too much responsibility. At least the first shot has been fired.

Stood in line at the Post office in Wodonga with Michael. I don't think he would know who I am but we would stop in there for coffee and vanilla slice. We would even call beforehand to make sure she had some put away.

Hopefully that continues in summer too. Probably the most sadly missed item when the Gateway closed. Had a lunch at Mountain Pepper and it was good value for a quick eat. Nice people serving.

    Observations 7-14th June Curtain Raiser

I know it may not be what you want to hear but we just took a jaunt on Bogong High Plains Road from Trapyard gate. The road has full cover but marginal for about 3km. Not something you would ski on (even with the legendary Mr. T XC/BC/AC/DC rock hopper op shop skis) but then it is consistently...

    Observations 7-14th June Curtain Raiser

The rain damage was obvious but also there was no significant loss on the table through the night. The point I am making is it is not all bad. There would have been a mix of rain and snow in places and it is recovering.

    Observations 7-14th June Curtain Raiser

But it only got to 2 degrees at 1am and at that temp there would still be some wet snow falling. It started to drop after that and is still falling. We find the change to be around 3 degrees but have had it snow at 7 degrees.

Temps are dropping in Omeo but rising at Dinner Plain. Getting to that temp where it will change to rain.

    Observations 7-14th June Curtain Raiser

The BOM forecast for East Gippsland had snow to 1000m today. Much lower than that. I would guess it is snowing in Omeo now but certainly at 800m.
