    Ski Specific Travel Insurance

Most of the insurers here who specifically cover off-piste will not insure skiers over 70. This year I had to rely on my credit card insurance which does not exclude of-piste or have an age limit.

Opinion Sneaky change to seniors season pass

Seniors used to get free resort entry at Falls. Then up to 2017 they got a discount on the early bird price but could get their pass at any time before or during the season. Now if you read between the lines the season entry price for seniors for 2018 season has gone up by 6% plus seniors have...

    Off hill overnight choices

Db, I am curious. You are looking at Bogong Village which to the best of my knowledge is all houses. But in Mount Beauty you are not considering any houses or flats, you have only listed motels. I am wondering why?

I am only travelling solo. There is no Piste at Silverton Mountain resort. Only one chair. For the lift skiing you must carry avalanche gear and be in a guided group and a max of 80 skiers on the mountain any one day. Only open 4 days per week. The cat skiing is guided at Silverton and Purgatory...

That is why I am only doing 2 days cat skiing at Purgatory, no on piste. I think there will be plenty of excitement and challenging skiing Silverton and the San Juan mountains off piste. Important to go to Utah first to acclimatise for the altitude in the San Juan.

Travel Life Proposed Utah / SW Colorado

The need to hire a car is what has held me back from doing a solo trip in SW Colorado up to now. But decided you cannot take it with you, and tough it out and drive the million dollar highway alone. Fly from SLC to Grand Junction and use the car down to Wolf Creek and fly out of Albuquerque. I...

The buses and Trax light rail are free with the Super pass. After a full days skiing these days just want to have dinner, catch up on any urgent messages and hit the sack. When I started skiing 50 years ago could hit the bars until 2 am and be skiing on the first lift but not any more.

I have had 3 previous trips using the ski bus from Midvale. I like the bus. The bus times are good and the bus is free with the Ski City Super Pass.

In my opinion Bankwest platinum is now better than 28 Degrees now that GE has sold 28 Degrees. 28 Degrees now charges a fee of 90cents when you PAY your balance. So if you pay your card off in full and do not use it the next month you still owe 90 cents and it will cost you another 90 cents when...

Skis Nocta 178 with AT binding & skins

Hi Caveman, What ski feels right for you can be a very individual thing. When I finished my short trip to Hokkaido this year I thought I should wait and try the Nocta for one more trip to Hokkaido and see how they perform in deep Tokachi powder before I give up on them as too big for me. And...

I stayed (with people I knew) in Silverthorn (near Frisco) in 2015 for 11 days skiing on the Local pass my tips Yes need a car. On advice of my friends rented a AWD which I think is smart driving in the snow on wrong side of the road. But I had no real problems since good falls before I arrived...
