You just need to learn to travel to the condition and be smooth on the brake application you don't need four chains on.

For an aussie driver, Mt O might warrant four chains after a decent dump and bull dozer cleared access track. .
IMHO chains on four wheels in Australia is not required. The only time you should need 4 chains is serious off road snow/mud conditions.
