This is the applicable clause isn't it: Stay-at Home Order. You are unable to use your pass during the applicable Core Season because the municipality, county, state, province, or country in which your Permanent Residence is located is subject to a “quarantine,” “stay-at-home,”...

Yeah I surfed. In front of the coffee shop with a couple of mates who also should have known better. Was 3’+, first couple of waves were ok but it got more worserer as a bit more tide came in (we all called it wrong and thought some more water would help) - it got straighter and slammier. The...

There is a tipping point in wedding anniversaries where (after it is reached) your spouse actually _sends_ you out for a surf.

I probably should surf tomorrow morning (and/or now as well), just to distract me from kicking some inanimate object and probably managing to break a toe. Wetty will be dry (enough) shortly anyway. Just to top off the day, I got a notification a few minutes ago that the "emergency whisky" I...

Similar at the NBSS. I got in the water as soon as I could see enough (about 6:45) and got my better waves early. Got bumpy and backwashy and a bit weird (a bit too shallow but the waves were slow over the bank due to an outwards current, so you couldn't even really get speed up and pull in for...

    The Jindabyne thread..

My reading of the public health order introducing the Greater Sydney lockdown (and other new restrictions for all of NSW) is that it specifically overrides that one. See https://gazette.legislation.nsw.gov.au/so/download.w3p?id=Gazette_2021_2021-282.pdf - specially half-way down Page 6 where it...

Sit in the middle of the peak, hassle everyone both sides out of paddling into it, take off straight and kook it. For bonus points then swear at everyone in the lineup for being in the way. It is a lockdown after all. That's what people do, right...

NSW public school holidays. Carpark barely full. Empty seats on the Mt P triple. No queue on the quad. Looks completely normal ;)

Put a decent leggie on it - something stronger than a thin competition one. Even where I surfed (at the gutless end of the beach) there was a fair bit of energy and one of my friends snapped her legrope yesterday. I usually use one of those FCS Freedom leashes on my grovelling shortboard (the...

I did fairly ok this morning (NBSS, south end), got in the water in the dark at about 6:45 along with some friends to beat the “lockdown specialist” surfing brigade, who fortunately turned up in lower numbers than the last couple of days. I sat inside and got a couple of dozen smaller ones...

Yeah exactly this @Paperboy and @Craig B - you can both picture exactly how it went down :( It’s ok to be a beginner. It’s not ok to be a ********. The dad of those girls does surf with them sometimes but I didn’t see him today - maybe mum or a non-surfing friend took them today? Couldn’t...

With some tide this afternoon the NBSS could be pretty good and I reckon some other places too. My hatred of crowds of unskilled and clueless randoms outweighs my froth for a bonus surf though.

I surfed (usual time, usual place) and it was busy. Was 2-3’ (occasional bigger ones) again suffered badly from “lockdown specialist” surfers. One particular incident I am still steamed about: quite a nice young girl (maybe 12-13 YO, don’t know her name but she and her younger sister surf on...

I have a 3/2 RipCurl Flashbomb zip-free steamer (about 3 years old now), the NCHE 2mm long arm short leg zip-free springy I bought a couple of months ago and a 1mm long-arm top (and 1mm neoprene boardies) - plus a few rashies and boardies. Gets me through at the NBSS just fine. As long as we...

Agreed the fit is the same. I bought that Uber-expensive Quiksilver 1mm zip-free steamer last year sight-unseen and their Medium fit me just like my usual RipCurl medium ones did. Unfortunately, and I can’t remember if I posted this before, the glued-only seams on the Quiksilver suit failed...

Thanks for the extra information. My friend who has been told by her physio not to get out of her chest-zip the way she always has been is starting to consider a new wetty (she has two 4/3 chest-zip ones that are only about 18 months old though so she’s sticking with them in the near term), and...

Ok, I hadn’t looked at Billabong steamers for a long time (obviously (blush)). I and almost all my friends have RipCurl, one or two have Patagonia steamers. That backwing arrangement looked pretty complicated and annoying to me - I totally understand the flushing problem they are trying to solve...

    The Surf Thread

Strange as it might sound, I find a zip-free steamer easier than a chest-zip (RipCurl 3/2 in both cases). My theory is that because the zip-free suit doesn’t have the (un-stretchable) zipper and has one less layer of neoprene (and less stitching) in the front it is actually easier to stretch it...

    The Surf Thread

I didn't reply in that forum, I just don't need the aggravation right now, but FWIW (among friends in here) I really only keep an eye on the number of lift rides I have over the course of a season, and then only really to amortise in my mind what I spend on skiing. So last year I managed to get...

(checks Stay at Home orders: Looks like paid work that cannot be done from home.) Could you park it perhaps up near the bottom of Eyre T-bar and I'll be right on it - accessing the car by the most practical means of course.
