Snow Report Thredbo 2021 Trip Reports, Pics, Updates and Conditions.

One of my searches for information during 2020 lead me to an index of live streaming cameras from around the world that was run by an Italian based site. Being in Italy the vast majority of the cameras were of course Italian. A lot of those cameras were at ski resorts. There was only 1 resort...

Snow industry on brink of collapse after second winter of COVID-19 lockdowns and no trade

That's the solution. All the snow companies need to do is re-register as fossil fuel mining companies and the government will just throw millions of dollars at them without any oversight - even if they don't need it...

Snow Report Perisher 2021 Trip Reports, Pics, Updates and Conditions.

Early this year when I looked at booking I was gobsmacked by the rates being asked. I nearly booked for the first week of September because it was "cheaper" but decided even those prices were just too much. Glad I didn't now.

    Perisher Master Plan

This. To do everything in the original plan was always going to be more money than the resort was worth - especially given the very limited Australian market and season. But it showed potential buyers there was a fair scope for future development and expansion so it wouldn't look a "dead-end"...

    Resort Congestion discussion

Fitzroy falls is part of Morton National Park. I have been there and other locations in the park. Each park entrance has ticket machines to pay the day use park fees. Much the same as pretty much every other Nat Park we go to. Its why i get an annual pass - so I don't have to stuff around with...

Inflated Accommodation Prices gone mad 2021 Season Jindabyne and Perisher

The price hikes are too much for me. I am on a relatively low income and for a few years now I have not had someone to share accommodation costs with. I simply can not afford to pay the over the top prices when only 1 person is staying there.

Poll How are your 2021 so plans going?

Well that's me out this year. single person on a limited budget I just can't afford or justify the accommodation prices being asked - even for 3 days. work commitments prevent me from going in the off peak periods when prices are lower. I used to go every year, but because of injury & covid my...

Snow Report Perisher 2021 Trip Reports, Pics, Updates and Conditions.

I believe Perisher have also used it in the past as a stockpile for snowfarming. That's why there are several fences to maximise the amount of snow captured.

Snow Report Thredbo 2021 Trip Reports, Pics, Updates and Conditions.

Thredbo obviously does, the amount of marketing money they waste trying to prove how much better they are than Perisher. Almost like they have an inferiority complex about it.... Nah just joshin! Healthy competition is what a capitalist economy thrives on. Does that ring a bell?

    Perisher Trail Maps

I like the printed maps. don't waste time on apps - can't read them outside, screen is too small anyway. Printed ones are also a type of memento I can keep that is a solid link to each year. I usually pick up 4 or 5 and make sure I keep at least one or 2 in good condition.

Last gen of Subaru Impreza/XV/Forester without EyeSight & Start Stop?

A couple of years ago I got one of the new cars as a loaner while mine was being serviced, the Subaru rep told that I could turn some of the features off if I wanted. I don't know how true that is, and what can & can't be turned off, but when I get my next car with all of these features I will...

Snow Report Perisher 2021 Trip Reports, Pics, Updates and Conditions.

My dad took these in 1975. Not top quality pics but while they show how trees were there then, clearing had already started. Very old photos from the 50's & 60's show even more rocks & trees.

Advice needed Subaru Forester - Roof Racks & Cargo Box for skis

This is where Rhino used to be really good. Mine has a great range of mounting holes that allowed me to set the bars a fair way apart and quite a way forward. Here are some pics - not the best because the intention wasn't to show off the box position

Advice needed Subaru Forester - Roof Racks & Cargo Box for skis

economy is still better than driving around Sydney but in comparison to what I get to and from the snowies without the box its generally 10-15% worse

Advice needed Subaru Forester - Roof Racks & Cargo Box for skis

I believe most roof boxes have universal attachments to fit most types of roof racks. When I bought my Rhino box I had a Camry wagon with Rola low profile sport bars fitted. Then when I bought the Forester I got the Thule cross bars fitted to the rails. There was no problem fitting the old box...
