    Mega Thread Spring Weather Banter

I was thinking waterspout too, but thought the scale was too large.

    Hurricane Hurricane Irma

I distinctly remember Winifred - there was a moment we heard rather than saw. We were in the backyard and it hadn't been too bad to that point. Then a sound like a plane preparing to take off, we saw the massive tree 200m away across the creek literally explode - leaves blown off and small...

    Hurricane Hurricane Irma

Yes and no, depending on strength the winds can pack a punch still and they're coming from the north rather than the SE. Winifred was the last one I was in. I thought it might have been a gulf starter but it seems I'm wrong. She was a doozy though.

    Hurricane Hurricane Irma

The worst ones come across from the gulf. I've always felt sitting between significant ranges to east and west spared us the worst of the winds.

Saw a video of the road from the NSW police last night. Winds and blown snow completely whited out the road. Maybe they simply drove off? Gps said turn right now?

    Observations 3-9 September

I really need a chance to test the traction control and snow mode on the evoque - today would have been perfect in Jindy - trying somwhere flat to see what speed would lose its steering. Snow and ice are different obviously. Of course I may never need to do so, conditions like this are...

    Observations 14-20th August

Yeah, keep an eye out (or don't as the case may be. Building damage to Barangaroo a little while ago had Hickson road shut. Quite a few road affected by building and tree damage, others with lacked out lights.

@POW_hungry so I chose to ski last week due to the possible blow torch this week. I recall you supported that thinking. I observe we suck. ;)

    Observations 10-13 August

Busy day! Low cloud at Perisher already mentioned so won't go there. It cleared mid morning generally. All lifts were open so headed straight for Guthega where the runs were in superb condition, a little crusty early but that lasted a couple of runs. Cloud obscured views high up but you could...

    Observations 10-13 August

Oh yeah, it's all good. I'm pretty damned tired from the drive - that probably came out in the post. It's a little tricky picking where I'll ski out the afternoon. I think wind hold is here to stay and I might be lucky to be where I am at mid station and having Mt P accessible from here and...

    Observations 10-13 August

Most chairs now on hold in PB, can't link the resorts :( I'm hiding in the valleys looking for wind blown and having a bit of fun with it, but doing a lot over and over again. The cover is typical oz August - you'd never know a 1m dump occurred a few days ago. A bit of warmth yesterday...

That does me for the day, going home to try and catch 4-5hrs sleep. Hoping for an issue free drive from midnight. Looks like a bit of fog (!!) around Canberra but otherwise good.

    Predictions 10-13 August

Yup, conditions look like improving as we get closer. I think me spending $40 on protection for the face did it.
