For anyone that’s not been able to get onto the snow.... the recent falls, whilst absolutely excellent, are currently almost non-skiable for practical purposes, off piste. At least in the elevation range around 1700 to 2000 ASL. The precipitation post the main system has been wet, mizzle, fog and its now frozen. But we have a decent base! A few self explanatory pics taken at lower resort level (PV).

No worse than buried frozen snowboard divots.

Rain channels in the snow. Saw heaps of it at Hakuba mid Feb.

Not easy to ski on when ungroomed. Need wide skis and a slightly wider stance.

Beats the grass and rock in Vic though.

We saw the rain divots on the main range a couple of years ago.

Yes, I did not enjoy this morning at all.

Think I need different wax on my ski's!

For context as well here is a photo of the snow wall for the overflow path against the car park.

I can't recall it ever being this high!

Very true and evident by the amount of “untracked” lines still available 36 hours later. It’s a mistake you make once. Unskiable until the next decent snowfall. Prurdy but

Arrived at Lake Crackenback (1100 m above sea level and next to Bullocks Flat near Thredbo) after a cracking day at Perisher. Heaps of snow - took a few pics while waiting for the power failure here to be rectified
