Snowing nicely now.
Clear stuff turned to white fluffy stuff as temps dropped from 5.2 to 0.6 degrees here at Island Bend 1330m. Guessing carnage on the roads down from Perisher. Havent heard the snow plough for the Guthega road yet, so perhaps all hands on deck elsewhere?
Isolated hail showers in croydon/bayswater area. Nothins a km down the road. Had some thunderstorms earlier.
Maybe nearly over for a few hours at PV. Charts and radar show another burst around 9pm - which is probably when it will to lower levels.
meanwhile a very big rocket is set to launch in apx 30 mins
Pretty cold day at Hotham with the wind chill , but other than the occasional empty chair seat flipping on Orchard due to the wind, they kept most of the lifts open. Summit closed for a bit during the day. Now very foggy and kind of damp squid weather but all white stuff today, but not as dry as Tuesday or Wednesday. The past week has been Gotham at its best ! Here’s a
Shot of lunch weather.
My favourite mountain, beautiful Buffalo. Mr.T where are you ?
Big numbers on the board so far for rate of fall at Perisher - 16mm in five hours
People taking 90 mins to go from Perisher to smiggs.
It must be puking
Maybe “wham, bam, thank you M’am” would be a better name for the thread/system
Pity the village is so low..
Perisher the winner again.. The goss on the hill was correct
Looking at the radar chance of thunder snow in the next hour or so for the northern resorts.
I measured 15cm fresh @1850m Mt Perisher when I left at 4pm. SNowed very hard all afternoon.
I also observe it took me 2h 40m to drive the 30km from perisher to Jindy due to the carnage on the road
Interesting day, drove up morning bc worked too late, but met a classic GAR debacle that resulted in sitting in car in whiteout for an hour. Don’t get why GAR is increasingly challenging for mortals, it seemed to work better back in the 70s and 80s. Some very awesome snow once out and about, with good stashes hidden in the weather. Then a v pleasant evening XC in fresh snow DP picturesque wonder w dog
Not a drop of rain... should’ve been here ret-bro!
From LiveTraffic - could be interesting tomorrow...
"Severe weather warning with restricted parking at Perisher due to snow clearing operations. Please use Ski Tube on the Alpine Way."
When was cedar wood cleared?
Looks like 25cm since..,
Heavy snow at Hotham still. Hasn’t stopped all day.
Cedarwood was cleared yesterday. Ruler has almost gone so approaching 30cm I suppose.
Of course it is. If you were skiing this afternoon or last Wednesday regardless of state or ski resort, you would have been skiing fresh powder. What's not to love?
I observed 27c in western Sydney today 7c by Canberra and 1c at home in Jindy. Straya.
Snowed non-stop at Thredbo today, getting steadily heavier as the day went on. No wind to speak of until mid-afternoon except at the top. No clear stuff at all, although the snow was quite wet - which was good, as it stuck to all the icy bits from yesterday. Just dumped all afternoon. Currently dumping in the village
Did early evening bucket of balls at the Tempe driving range in Sydney in magnificent calm balmy weather. You can basically chuck a rock and hit the airport from there and Syd airport was... wait for it.... 23 degrees at 6:30pm
Change through Wollongong.
I’ve heard that it’s been snowing in the Warburton area, can anyone confirm?
Just changed to wet snow Jindy
Rain and snow in East Jindi
Beautiful evening up at Falls Creek. Been snowing solidly since we arrived at 2pm today. They were fitting chains from about 15km down from the main area.
Enjoy the snow everyone!
Big fat wet flakes at lake level jindy
Just came here to post this
Smashing down in Jindy, not really settling (yet)
Stars are out at Buckley’s Crossing, but bark me it’s a 2 dog night tonight!
Heading from Canberra tomorrow, how is the drive gonna be? Have a landcruiser planning on riding Thredbo
In Blackheath tonight. Temp gradually dropping as the front approaches. Will post anything worthwhile noting from here on
So..... So far, Mt Hotham approx 12mm, Mt Buller 15mm, Perisher 19mm, Thredbo same. Everybody enjoying some loving
Snowy and slow
steady wet flake age at the top of the hill in Jindabyne. First day at Thredbo tomorrow since 2015, skiing with at least one maybe two Perisher die hards.
Moonbah. 1100 ASL....Solid snow
at home. Starting to settle. We have guests from the city so they are very excited to see it on their car....
We where out that way this morning dinking about
@SMSkier from Jindy? Haha.
Shame this one didn't start 10 hours later instead of being skied in all day - tomorrow would be off the hook.
I'm not complaining, it's a great weekend to be skiing south of the border
Flurries at Buckley’s Crossing .8km ASL.
Apparently it never rains here, let alone snows these days...
Buckley’s of becoming the capital, buckley’s of getting any water from the sky. Whole towns been robbed.
Intermittent snow at Falls tonight. I must say, the village is loaded
Shame you're not at Thredbo! It's still snowing here.
