Obs for this range?
Just north of Cooma. Now.
6 degrees and balmy at Blue Cow. Ominous clouds rolling in but weather’s holding for now.
Snow is running slooooow....
All 12-16th obs here.
No precipitation of any kind observed at Perisher today. Foggy at the top at times, other times clear eith some blue skies
Mild and humid (20°C) with an afternoon thunderstorm in Maffra. Previously visible snow looking North (toward Tamboritha) and Northwest (Mt Useful) has melted out completely today. Obs suggest r**n at all vic resorts.
Vic with a few runs on the board, this eve.
Positive temps in Jindi with lightning west of MR
Thought I heard a bit of thunder an hour or so back @Moonbah.
BOM showing PV just dropping into the negatives.... and this headed our direction. Going to be touch and go I think.
Crampon alley...not a good look for the Hill
Light rain last night into a lovely morning at Smiggins so far.
Good vertical shear on the Northern Beaches this morning..
Wintry mix at Blue Cow, with things that almost resemble flakes up high.
lift base says 4 degrees.
Mid Station showing flakes! I can't believe they didn't use the Slow-Mo effect.
Was snowing properly for about 10mins at Eagles Nest 20 mins ago. And now it's snowing again.
Quite a bit of rain overnight at Buller - mud everywhere
Grey and still now
Waiting for next week
Looks like it's raining on High Noon cam.
Absolutely pouring down here in Jindy -
Obs at PV pre noon......noted between 1830
and 2050 (approx) ASL on Mt P.
Generally nothing significant and probably net / net IMO.
Round 1 circa 9:00 am. Delivered about 1 mm. Ranged from decent snow through to sleet and a bit of rain. Snow levels ranged from the base of Eyre T Bar and at about 1900 ASL and above. What snow fell was mostly wet but interestingly no pre frontal.
Cleared at about 10:45 for a while, with decent visibility to make way for round 2.....
Could have been worse but given the BOM is only showing around 3 mm so far, and given there was no rain yesterday......not a bad outcome (to date) given the original forecast IMO.
Rain now, all the way down Crackenback sector.
Some decent snow at Blue Cow for a while. No r@@@ to speak of up the hill, so we’re doing ok out of this after all.
The hill definitely needs a serious top up.
guthega the pick as usual.
Thunderstorm incoming for Latrobe Valley. Won't do the remaining snow at Baw Baw much good.
For the last few days in Harrietville I have been drinking pina coladas with a tanning foil frill round my neck. Shit is more tropical than a coconut
Had the same storm, and same cloud, interesting wind changes with it, SE through NE, NW and back to SE.
With a 4 degree dew point and strong wind, I'd say Bawbaw's remaining snow is toast.
Still 6 degrees here at Island Bend 1430m. T-shirt kinda balmy afternoon drying out all of my gear from the soaking, wet snow about lunch time at Perisher.
One thing I love about our mountains is the variations you can get from one valley to the next; it keeps it interesting.
Today was wet unless you stood on the top of the antenna at Eagles Nest and basked in the glory of a "wintery mix".
Pouring in Jindy again.
Temperature dropped to zero at Thredbo top station, precipitation approaching from the east.
It’s better then rain :/
Well it’s moved on a little. I suspect heavy wet snow at PV (at best). BOM showing 13mm. Temps hovering just above zero at the BOM station so perhaps a little cooler at higher elevations. Not that unusual to be sleeting at village level and snowing up top. Stake showing almost 5 cm..... will find out more in a few hours come First Tracks.
And we're back!
Rain on the cams for much of today with a good sprinkling of snow about 1700m, going of @Jasper Schwarz reports via twitter.
Low is cooling and moving southwest.
Washout on the Vic resorts for this system, maybe a little snow on Hotham and Falls Creek.
The car thermometer was shifting between 3.0C and 3.5C in Thredbo Village when we arrived an hour ago. Light rain
Skiied mt perisher most of the day. Definite snow afteraround 11am, on and off, quite heavy at times. Not wet snow, proper stuff at those elevations. When I left at 2pm, more wet flakes in the car park. Didn’t really accumulate though.
A few belated obs. Not much rain eventuated at any point other than Thursday night; heavy wet snow on Saturday morning and a mixed bag of weather throughout. The fresh fell on wet patches so there were plenty of sticky surprises Saturday
Today Excelerator, Zalis and Guthega were all in pretty good shape after the groomers and throughout the morning. Very few people around due to the Pretty Valley chair having shat its gearbox meaning a skitube return.
Despite the gloomy predictions I had a ripper four days.
Coming and going here at Smiggs now. Looking forward to the next few days
Also another observation: blast from the past with Everyone’s old profile pictures.
Nice sunset yesterday (yes we can still go for a drive)
Multitude of factors combining to create this effect
Windy as all hell here now in Smiggs.
The mostly accurate temperature gauge says -0.9 so should be fun tomorrow morning. Hopefully we see some snow overnight?
Hope so for your sake. If QLD had been sensible I would have been there with you. Have to think there would be something there to
2-3cm underway at Perisher
Snowing reasonably heavily now at perisher. Snow level around 1500m currently. Snow sitting on the road from Dainers gap
Sun... We'll see you Sunday
Red ski to the east, grey sky to the west and a mild morning in the Jindy North Shore
Something is brewing ...
Winds light, temps dropped
Jeepers. Look at the sat pic to the west of mt gambier
Snow falling steadily at Smiggins. No wind (yet) and starting to accumulate. Predicted top of 4 degrees so may get wetter
As was said above.
2-3 cm here at Smiggs this morning. Snowing nicely now. Mostly accurate temperature gauge says -0.2 so that’s a good start. Not a lot of wind here atm, but I expect that to change.
EDIT: The dog has now been blown of the chain
Beautiful cloud formations from Mt Wellington this morning.
