Might as well kick this off now. Light showers around Melbourne this morning. Radar suggests the resorts will catch a bit of it.
Coolish morning in Sydney and a fair amount of smoke haze hanging over Sydney from some controlled burns out west. Sitting in the office in North Sydney I can't see across the harbour. Me thinks an inversion has kept the smoke hanging around
Did NSW just legalise weed? Hard to see more than a couple of hundred metres outside at the moment. Supposed to be clearing to a warm day shortly, though.
Bluebird day in Perisher with light wind at the top. Snow softened in the afternoon but not too much and was pretty forgiving. Cover remains excellent. View from Back Perisher Mountain
Mainly blue skies at Hotham all day. Some higher cloud in the late afternoon. Very warm in the valley but the winds over the summit kept things cool up high. We observed Virga over Mt Buffalo in the morning.
Bluebird day at perisher today, quite warm, 4c in the valley and around 1-2c up high. However, around 1:30 mysteriously intermittent flakes of snow started to fall from the sky on Mt perisher, for around 5 minutes. Proper flakes, although there were only a few wispy clouds around, and it was bright and sunny. It was definite snowflakes, gently falling, not windblown. Quite odd, but pretty.
Quite possibly some remnants of some Virga similar to what @Rush mentioned above. -22C @ 500mb and ~2C near Mt Perisher would've been enough IMO.
I wish there was a dislike button BBB. Went out to take some photos at 3pm in Melbourne in just jeans and a light jumper - was a hot mess after about 2km of walking. Definitely spring like.
Nice riding thredbo early today. Firm and fast straight up but slushy and warm for the bottom 1/3rd after 11am. Still beats working
Effing mild in Melbourne this morning. No rain that I can see, but the skies look ominous. Feels tropical.
Yep no sooner had I posted that I saw some lightly wet roads. The wind has a slight chill to it. Some light drizzle again now as I walk to work
Its pretty much gross everywhere. Even in Wollongong. Sky like a 80's era RSL. Smokeys above the pokies
In Jindabyne, it's overcast with a slight breeze and I have a sliding door wide open to let in that fresh, not at all cold, breeze. I can also hear seagulls
Until you stand outside for a few minutes in the horizontal rain, at which point you start to see shades of grey in the term "warm"!
Just spoke to a friend who is at Smiggins and he said his car thermometer says it's 5 degrees and it's raining
Clear liquid falls lightly but steadily @ Perisher, earlier than forecast, softening the cover before tonight's deluge. Roll on Thursday.
