Free refills on the lee aspects. Sooooo goooood
Some more yellow and green coming across the bay now. Gone through Geelong and heading for the city.
Avalon airport 6c with an it feels like of 0.9c as that moved through. Brrr
I've observed lifties doing a lot of digging on Mt P triple where the Subaru and ropes were buried. I've also observed a number of T bars have so much snow they will soon be needing major excavation. Lastly I observe the mountain was close to being tracked out of sensational fresh lines after 2 hours.
August 2017... Other than a day or two, can't complain too much.
Absolutely hosing down out my window in Melbourne's CBD. Swirling winds means it's all a wintry mess.
I observe the call of the snow has too much power. I'm on my way to Thredbo.
Clearing over the Hume Weir (for now).
Just Observing how much more juice is in this, the radar looks to be thickening for another big blast. I also observe that I really wish I had taken off today and ventured the scenic route to Hotham
Big squall about to roll over the west gate.
Here comes the bawbaw and buller express
Small branches everywhere but the tree is holding on. Wind is ferocious. All power out at our place so I'm off to the bar
Just back from Thredbo. Stil snowing down to Skitube. Fantastic morning dropping under Gunbarrel first up then through to Dream run. Light dry cover 20-30cm up top then a little heavier the lower you dropped.
The next hour spent through Michaels mistake and it was super light for 50cm lips being blown apart.
Yeeewwwww was the word of the day.
I observe many dogs blown off chains in Kurnell, the portable building I am in has probably shifted a few mm this morning.
Windy drive down the Monaro tonight I imagine.
Apira lodge has lost it's load... hope nobody was skiing under that as it came off.
But not to worry, it's filling in again!
I observe a foot to half metre westerly wind waves exiting the Sydney heads. Bizarre.
Especially considering it'll be 6ft swells filling in from the South tomorrow.
Snow flurries just now as I drive past the Equestrian Centre into Jindy. Nothing settling.
@POW_hungry so I chose to ski last week due to the possible blow torch this week. I recall you supported that thinking.
I observe we suck.
sometimes in life you back the wrong horse. I skied Buller in -3 and freezing rain two weeks ago....
Being coming consistently for around 2 days now here at Perisher just right of top of telemark
You could see the base of the bbq yesterday on our heated balcony
If it keeps going might cover it
Great snow today and still plenty of fresh to be had amongst the trees
And on it goes. Cedarwood collected another ~5cm this morning. Not bad for Falls with the flow turning SW'ly.
Just started coming down harder here at perisher
Nice and light too
How can you tell their personalities?
I'm still holding my breath.
(sorry I take punctuation seriously)
Sounds great though
Just came over Westgate bridge heading out to Rockbank.......very strong winds from the west....not much rain....could not imagine passing over Hotham in this weather?
Just came down from thredbo, had a pretty good morning, was lined up for Kozi, looks like a fair chunk of moisture coming through from the south west, and nuking again on the thredbo cams, still -4.5, if this swings a little more south, Jindy and the Monaro could be in for it.
Wind was utter madness on my lunchtime run round Barrangroo and Pyrmont just now.
Yeah, keep an eye out (or don't as the case may be. Building damage to Barangaroo a little while ago had Hickson road shut. Quite a few road affected by building and tree damage, others with lacked out lights.
I observe that the Perisher AWS has recorded 0.2mm since 4am.
I'm guessing it may be slightly incorrect.
Is there anyone on the hill that can estimate how many cm that fell during the approximately 9 hour duration that the AWS presumably might not have been working?
Interesting that it's relatively clear at Corryong. Road is dry and I was a bit disappointed that there was no snow at Shelley. Oh well onwards and upwards
Haha. I refer you to THIS post which you had access to last wednesday! With out blowing smoke up my own arse, I've been all about this system for 8-9 days now.
If I had known you had the chance to go this week then I would've suggested you go both!
You won't hear me talk you out of trip to shred...
The Wind is full on hectic here in Sydney:
- Windows being blown out on Barangaroo
- Trains stopped running due to objects caught in overhead wires
- Flights cancelled
looking south from civic (Canberra) can see what looks like snow trying to fall on the southern suburbs, landing as 'rain' according to contacts down there
(oh - hi to all my old friends too, wherever they are - haven't posted for a few years now...)
It's coming down very hard now in Thredbo right down to the Village. Visibility close to zero above Bunnywalk
Nothing to see here
Roof damage on the building next to ours, near Sydney airport
Snow to lake level at Jindy just before, then sun and now it's coming over again.
4.5C in Katoomba and whispy ominous clouds to the west
There were a few light flurries just before lunch down Tuggeranong way.
Yarrawonga radar showing the penetration of these showers and them getting over the other side of the GDR. Melbourne radar tells us that Buller, BB and LM should really be benefiting this arvo heading into tonight.
Buller AWS saying only 0.4mm since 9am. Cams and reports tell diff story. Any comment?
Blue sky appearing at Falls (briefly) and chucking down at TBJ.
It'll frozen solid.
Must be frozen. Has been coming through in showers all day, just a few gaps here and there. Snowing beautifully now.
nice band clearing through the yarra valley, arrive just after last lifts I'd think, few more freshies to be had tomorrow morning!
Radar is pr0n.
Been having a look at southern Tas Obs. She's cold down there, 5-6C in Hobart. Real chance of some very low snow tonight, <300m if there's any moisture left in it.
Hail showers now in Hallam, Sth. East suburbs. The real cold is just arriving.
