@POW_hungry that's beautiful mate nice work. More please. Cold but sunny on Syd northern beaches this morning. Mountain bike ride felt fresh in the breeze
Nice morning on Mt P. Lines long but still fresh out wide untracked. Worth the walk back. Its warmed up a little but snow in squeaky condition up high.
Well Thredbo was amazing this weekend... I'll try and post some pics when I get reception. Off piste great, trees through golf bowl epic. Great weekend
Plentiful snow at Perisher although wind scoured in some areas (eg top of Perisher Quad Express). Rocks and shrubs still showing through on some runs, interestingly, but overall a great improvement on pre-Blizzard 01 conditions. Unexpectedly warm today in the sun (7 degrees in sunny spots) so some melt happening. Otherwise- a glorious blue-bird day! Reception here too poor to upload photos; will try tomorrow...
Great xc & Tele skiing today at Baw Baw today ( Sunday 20 /8 ). 10 cm fresh dry on 20 base on piste but lovely drifts of 30-40 cm deep near the trees. And as dry as I've seen snow at this mountain. -5c overnight explaining the quality - I guess! Good snow was accompanied by very light winds, mostly sunny skies and just the odd bit of light cloud. Bliss and only 3 hrs from SE Melbourne.
Great shot, thanks for sharing. Never quite understood why Hotham insists on maintaining those rollers on the Summit though. Such a weird feature. Hotham AWS already hitting -5C. Thredbo TS nearly @ -9C.
The weather in the alpine was as good as it gets. Cool, no breeze and the atmosphere was so clear. Touring perfection. Snow was gooood. Mt blowhard
A couple of pics from Bondo state forest yesterday which is on the North boundary of Kosciuszko these were only at around 1000m or so pretty big dump in parts. First pic is Brindabella road on the way to Tumut and the last pic is on Two Sticks road at around 1150m behind Mt Coree
the rollers on the pic are from the ski/snowboard cross which starts at top of summit.Would have to be one of the most picturesque course around. All the big guns are here. the big rollers on the other side of the summit get used but yes require some maintenance. I observe its already -2.4 in Dinner Plain.
Had an awesome weekend at Perisher/Smiggs. Heaps of snow and even in the warm temps throughout the day on Sunday it held out well.....still squeaky underfoot and not that lunchtime slush that often happens. The wife noted that the chairlifts seemed closer to the ground with the amount of snow there has been......for us anyway, we are used to skiing shoulder seasons for the past few years with the daughter school hols. All in all, sensational down there. Got another trip mid Sept, so fingers crossed the temps hold out and wet stuff stay away. If so there should still be plenty of snow around even then.
