Just saw the creek at PV. Not pretty

Was pretty interesting last year how little snow was moved by the flood, I thought it would be all gone in the creek bed near the bridge, and the next day it was still well covered. Rain is more problematic on lower altitude (warmer) runs of places like Buller and Thredbo IMO. Not thats its ever good anywhere :(

I think so too... They are also steeper. The runoff has more momentum

Smiggins has had significant damage on the main slopes but looks to have held together pretty well, considering the amount of precip. Looks to be a nice lake formed at the base of the Kaaten Triple Chair.

Looks like the cover is holding up fairly ok at Perisher. If the snow that's starting now continues and we get that 50cm+, I would expect some nice riding this weekend. Fingers crossed.

To be fair that image is actually about 20mm into the 80mm current accumulation.
It's faired well IMO. there's butt loads of snow base on FF due to snowmaking capability, you'd hardly notice a dent in that area, in any 24 hr event
Agree..what is of interest is the lack of real damage to the natural snow at the side of the FF chair on the right.. I would have thought the 75mm of rain from the photo time to this mornings grab would have wiped that completely clean

I observe sleet and hail on the drive to Perisher from about 1500 m ASL. All the rivers and creeks flowing full tilt.

Wet snow in the car park. Creek in Perisher not as full as that rain event last season.

Slush in car park and wet snow alternating with hail.

Hopefully a little more snow at higher elevations.

I observe that the r*** has all but destroyed the main toboggan run at LM:
village-toboggan-run.jpg

But not so badly affected is the Burton Piglet rail park (for 3 to 6 year olds) they've spent all winter making (and a huge proportion of their snow-making) at the expense of 95% of their customers who are snow-players :headbang:

Perisher AWS scored 145 mm since 9 am yesterday.

Thats close to last years carnage.

Spewing the Alpine creeks will be all open now.
