Strong southerly winds meant lots of different aspects were filled in (and untracked) late in the day; after the crowds had gone.

I hear reports that some snow definitely settled in the higher western parts of Tumba , in the lower shopping precinct I hear reports of sleety/wintery mix with the odd flake although nothing settled.
Still only 14.6 mm in my jar though.

Some images would back up the reports given the roads were shut yesterday.

No kidding it was a bit hairy watching the bus go down first with the kids on board!!! But no problems with good sets of chains.
At least all that snow meant we had to stay sunday and ski another day LOL

Been through that road on 3 snow events this season and didn’t need ‘em (I am in a 2WD VW Caddy). A Bit of slipping but you can manage if you’re in 2nd doing 20/30kms and there’s been limited traffic before you.

Going down is a dif story. I like riding the shoulder switching between 1st/2nd.

Yeah we would have been in granny doing nowhere near 20/30 km. :emoji_bicyclist: Not even chains were going to help me, a chairlift perhaps.

I saw a ute abandoned half off the road there this afternoon, near the top. Presumably couldn't make it up. Still a bit of snow on the road there this afternoon.

I wish I had the foresight to video the carnage at Donna Buang on Sunday morning when we were up there. But we were too busy enjoying the snow and also laughing at the pool souls.

I saw more ford territorys, Holden Colorado's and ford falcons spinning out on an incline no steeper than a leaf on the ground it was bonkers.

This particular photo below demonstrates it, that silver Colorado was stuck at that point. And it was 4 wheel drive, all wheels spinning away.

Big weekend of snow chasing - stayed in Woods Point Sat night.

Drove in via Warby Sat arvo, some light settled snow along stretches of the Reefton Spur, and meaningful snow on the deck from about halfway between Cambarville and St Clair. Stopped at St Clair to throw a few snowballs with the girls, maybe 10cm fresh from the night before, and it started snowing heavily. Quite deep by 5pm @ McAdams Gap, drove up to the pub for a beer, left for Woods Point around 6 - hammered snow until the final couple kms into WP. Raining until we retired around 1230, woke to 5cm on the ground and snowing nicely. Climbing out of town back towards Cambarville it became very deep very quickly, and snowed most of the day. Incredible! Deep snow and road totally covered, despite heavy 4wd traffic, until we finally hit 'mud' a few kms from Cambarville. I've seen snow right along that road, and 'deep' stuff many times up high around Matlock tower/The Gap Pub, but never so consistently deep, for the entire length of the road. Snow was dry all day. Very special.

A few pics from Sunday, WP-Cambarville:

One thing I forgot to mention: Sunday morning I nearly didn’t make it to and through the Buller toll gate. It wasn’t the cost of entry that had me spinning, and the snow was substantial, but it was my Hiace’s loose-and-light rear end. It was comical how I was bagging it up – the girl in the booth hadn’t seen anything like it.

    Awesome photos @mx_boarder
