An increase in high cloud forming . Should be an interesting mixed bag this one.
6C and 6.4mm in the can at Charlotte’s Pass.
Wouldn’t be looking pretty up there today, at least not til around midday/1pm.
Perisher this morning it is sunny with a mix of blue sky and ominous cloud. Very windy, no precipitation at the moment. The ground is wet.
BB looking good. Must have been much colder down South.
Almost tropical in Hill Top 2628. Grey clouds overhead with solid white clouds building over the mountains.
Hopefully it will get very wet later.
Just gone below zero at Buller after an inch of rain.
It has been snowing at Mt Mawson and BenLomond , very cold , minus 2 just before 11am on the Ben
Looks to be snowing Mt P
Falls Creek in the positive when I last looked but dropping and it has been raining most of the night. Lots of snow around Cope area of BHP gone as far as I can see (when the cloud breaks). Over 30mm of rain I suspect at Falls and the Mitta River is on the rise which indicates mostly rain and snow melt. Most of the system has passed it seems or heading north.
Light snow at Buller
All the way down too.
Agreed, looks ugly on the cams even still now and temps still positive
It got heavier for like a minute. Wait for the next cam refresh!
needs a rain gauge added.
Snowing at Perisher now as of about 20 mins ago according to mid station Perisher
wind change in southern Sydney, now strong southerly, colder.. i see some flakes struggling on the lodge cam at Perisher..
Snowing nicely again at Buller.
Puking on high noon cam
Back to work now
Moonbah 1100 ASL....
5mm in the gauge. Needed badly as paddocks and lawn very dry.
Big fat wet snowflakes have just started to fall.....very little wind at the moment.
More pics to follow if it settles but the ground was quite warm so anything landing is melting straight up......
EDIT: ... biggest flakes I’ve seen all season including over 95 days up the hill. 20 cent piece size plus..!! Pics probably won’t show up so well.
absolutely pouring at lakeside. heaviest rain in a long time.
Mum just reported big flakes in jindy.
Starting to stick around!
Sticking on snowstake now. Top of perisher now below 0C
Big wet flakes at lake level Jindy now. Outside temp 2C. Not sticking at this stage
jnr LTB at gf's place near Jindy, out past The Station on Snow River Way, and just sent a message saying it was dumping huge flakes.
just started lakeside with big flakes
Flogging down snow in Jindy, apparently still raining in Thredbo
car will be covered soon - best snowfall all season in Jindy as best I recall.
I reckon the snow started falling here before the ski fields. At a much lower level. Have a close neighbour staying at PV. Based on his obs and mine, I reckon it hit here prior. A friend about 10 mins away at 1250 ASL has snow laden trees already.
Here’s a pic just now at home.....lost a lot to melt early on but garden is ok with that.
Snowing in Jindy, but only 0C at 1950m at Thredbo TS. Almost no change in temperature with 1000m difference in elevation. Shows the low level snow potential for later this evening!
Not only is it snowing it Jindy, there is virtually no wind. So the big fat flakes are just floating down. BOM AWS for perisher also shows very light winds.
That's not something you see every day
*while its snowing
I observe a Samoyed pooping .....
Typical south system snow now falling at Hill Top 2628
Not surprising as the models did have the cold pool coming out of the S/SE this arvo. Very unique inbound this one.
Resorts still getting some though, snowstake showing around 5cm at perisher
Hotham: r**ining and windy most of the night and until mid morning, then the precip and wind stopped. Got a bit foggy/cloudy at higher elevations. The random number generator thermometer thingy outside the day lodge was reporting -9 when we came back in around 3pm. While that was not credible, it did feel colder and light snow started around that time and has been coming down reasonably steadily since.
Dropped to zero at Cooma airport.
Jindy in town
27mm of R*=N then 8 cm of snow, could have been a lot worse
Check the direction of that cold air:
So snow down to what elevation do you think? All to the east, don’t see that often, the Tinderries should look fine
Was snow on the ground at Bombala so I saw on facebook one of the pub pages and Brown Mountain
Might be one for the predictions thread so I'll post there, but I agree on the Tinderries.
Sleeting now just south of cbr at 750m
Finally getting some decent rain here in Canberra. Loving the sound ....
Heavy rain and 0.4 at Braidwood east of Canberra at 665m accord to bom. Must be very flakey
Unexpected snow flakes in Canberra at 640m.. strange weather
