We need a sheep forecast thread.
No we don't.
Wild and wooly in Jindy.
Reckon it's 60kmh of nw wind on the lake.
Cloud has socked in over the Alps.
Viz looks as bad as I've seen.
Wind not too bad on the hill at PV. Visibility on the other hand....
Radar shows showers just about to hit coast
Foggy at Buller, CG is doing the morning shift on the slopes, I’ll get out a bit later.
Sunny in Jindy, moderate winds, cloudy over mountains, looks like snows on the way this afternoon.
Unfortunately Mawson got hit by rain yesterday, so has lost a bit of cover.
Lightly raining at Buller (even at -2.3 degrees!). Wind not that strong yet. Pistes absolutely bullet proof. And they forgot to groom burnt hut which is awesome for kids and beginners uploading northside. Good times. Hopefully we get a bit of snow tonight!
Another drizzly day in the Dandenongs. We did score a few dry hours yesterday!
Drizzly, mizzly wetness all morning at Buller. At least the snow has softened a bit now. Sure hope it turns to snow ce soir though. Absolutely hosing it down at the moment.
I observe it’s blowing from the West at Buller.
You will be able to draw your own conclusions from that single data point.
Gusts to 110km/hr at Thredders with windchill sub -20C.... nice
Might want to check again. The Buller Magic still happens in a northerly as well it seems...
Yeah very unusual. Perhaps some weather gurus can tell us why?
Temps look very borderline on Baldy.
Temps borderline at BB and quite a front on radar approaching ..
Temps iffy at Blue Cow. Blowin a gale at Island Bend where there are some very nervous folk in camper trailers. I've been clearing debris from the last storm to windward so it doesn't fly into me tonight.
Its not as gusty yet, but it is early days for this front.
What are the temps at BC?
Pwerisher Valley ob current as at 3:55pm.
17/03:50pm -1.2 -10.1 -1.8 96 0.2 WNW 35 50 19 27 - 0.0 -1.8
03:11pm W 80
They don't seem too iffy yet.
Horrible at Hotham today. Low viz, blowing gale force and has had a full freeze/thaw through it. Then the rain started...
Moderate rain when we left despite the car saying -1C. Hopefully will turn to snow soon
Currently 2.6 and dropping at Island Bend. It is normally about 3 degrees diff to Blue Cow. It appears to be snow falling higher up in the valley as distinct from the cloud cover coning and going earlier today. We rode the Freedom Chair at Guthega just before lunch and assumed it would be one of the last - chairs were swinging quite a lot.
Can see a bit of sleet accumulating on next door’s roof at Buller.
How was the snow quality today?
Very good. In fact we were very surprised. A bit thin in the usual wind blown places but very nice off piste.
Just went for a grocery run at Thredbo. Walked through drizzle that didn’t really wet me to any significant degree. Got back and it’s turned to heavier light snow/drizzle. Come on baby, snow!!
No A cooling there.
You can blame marginal upper levels (until soon).
Sleeting harder at Buller, sliding off our roof in decent chunks.
Wet snot at Falls village level according to the socials about 15min ago, ~1550-1600m
Yeah the uppers are certainly improving as we speak IMO.
So the snow should start falling from here on in.
Snowing and settling at Perisher from my vantage point at Corroboree Lodge. Windy as.
Noticeable chill in jindy.
Legit snow now at Falls and Dinner Plain on the socials.
Anyone got any obvs if buller just got 25 mm of R**N or Snow?
My daytime obs and the evening cams combine to tell me about 24mm of rain and 1mm of sleet so far. Looks to be trending the right way now though.
All resorts in VIC at or below zero.
Melbourne airport 11.2deg c
Snowing nicely on Thredbo Cruiser cam
Not in the village now.
Wet wet wet
I observe via bom obs that temps are on the rise for P & Thredbo. Was this always going to be the case?
Can’t be that warm??
Was at Stirling, and it was definitely rain there on and off all day
Gotta be white precipitation surely. Its now 1.7 degrees with translucent precipitation here at Island Bend, so deduct 3 degrees = snow a couple of hundred metres higher up.
Winds are easing, so perhaps we will see the nice fluffy white stuff settle in the coming hours???
Just went for a walk in Thredbo village. Light snow settles at top of vill, nothing at my lodge about halfway up the hill. So current snowline would be just over 1400m
Only due for a dusting at best in the Village tongiht, I reckon.
Dropping only to around 1300m IMO.
Straw galore on Sou-Peri Cam.
