I love these photos blueandwhite. Can I use them on Sky News Weather channel? Cheers in advance
Presumably as some sort of evidence for Rupert to deny global warming?
Stay on topic.
Cracking day in Jindy, snow was beautiful this morning.
Perisher, nice snow, crowds not too bad
Plenty of ice on the ridge exposures.....improves as you get out of that.
Was a very warm day today in the sun on the hill. Temp indicator showing 10°C at 1pm over at Interceptor. I suspect the measurement was being taken in the sun but it didn’t have too much of an affect on the snow, which stayed light all day.
Cold now Thredbo village. -1 guns blazing. Wind has dropped off progressively since this morning. Was a mild day for mid winter.
All, Just got back from Interschools at Thredbo. Stayed in Jindy which was a first for the family. The following observations were from Wednesday to Saturday.
Wednesday: Wind hold clear not cold at all +6 in village.
Thursday: Really warm, wind had dropped. Snow up top was awesome above about 1400m rising to 1500m as the day progressed. Snow was really dry up top. By lunch time the heat had got to the snow and the "thredbo problem" of slush on the lower supertrail and nigh noon appeared. No snow. Ice on the car park roads even in the plus temps.
Friday: Pretty Much the same as Thursday. Except kept hearing about how well perisher was skiing due to its elevation.
Saturday: Forecast wind did not really blow. Was freezing in Jindy at -4. Warmed as we went into the Mountains and was again plus at Thredbo. Clearly had been cold overnight as the lake was frozen over and some snow making had been done on the lower levels. Snow was the best it was all week for me. The lower parts were not slush. We worried about the wind for today and the kids had not seen their mum for a few weeks as she was in Canada so we came home last night.
We really need another 30-40cents. The base is there, but, the cover thins with the work its getting.
But, the groomers did a great job with what they had.
Snowing nicely at Buller under that small band
i am observing Thredbo with some flakes now.
Couple of cms at Hotham, little bit clear at bottom of Blue Ribbon. Chains for the lucky ones with 2WD on Harrietville side.
It was snowing above about 1600m at Thredbo on my last run about 30 minutes ago. Big flakes too
Steady snow at falls albeit wet snow
Spot on to progs. Thanks for the obs.
Falling solidly at Perisher...
nice!.....anything tonight will be a bonus before the "big event" on Tues/Wed
someone's got the right idea chilling their champers
Cloud was creeping closer in jindy.
I washed my car today.
It's going to rain... Here
Staying in East jindy tonight and tomorrow night. Quite blowy here and the odd spit of rain here atm. Absolutely dumping at perisher looking at those cams!! That snow would be gluggy as anything but hey, better than nothing. Hoping for 5cm. Could be nice skiing up high tomorrow... IMO
Little bit of snow this afternoon at falls. Was a bit marginal though. Wetish at times. Nothing too heavy.
Western Tassie is in for a treat over the next 36 hours.
Out of date but gorgeous crispy morning at falls
Last night wasn't even good for dust on crust. Hopefully Tuesday/Wednesday doesn't fade away to nada as well.
Temps at PV/TTS didn't even come close to forecast - be it BOM or yr.no
