Aaaanf it’s started again
hit us about an hour later.
big cold gust of wind ahead of it. 15kts ish.
same same . temps dropped about 5 degs.
was battening down watching it incoming.....
Quite mild here in Canberra after some very welcome overnight and morning rain (here, not in the snow resorts!).
That from the PwC building?
rip from fb.
Tamarama this arvo.
Interesting rotation on the Canberra radar. Raining here again.
I was about to ask the same except KPMG lel
Light rain on the ride home from Melbourne. Of course forecasts and models had nothing about rain today, I didn't bother taking the raincoat.
In all honesty, one of the darkest skies i have ever seen in sydney today.
Glad to see a little straw re appearing on South P cam and FV just now. Looking at radar and hoping it builds from here for a few hours overnight.
Yes snowing on and off here at Smiggs and settling . Mountain is in great shape, blue Cow seems the best
correct me if I'm wrong here.
Thredders / PV .
Deep DGZ circa 200hPa
albeit inversion above 700
uppers ok ish nearing - 30
explains to me the plates we saw today in slo mo.
Favourable for base building.
interesting also the contra layer of wind (shear . instability ) 800 - 300.
Same building as PWC, but they aren’t the only ones in Tower 1, they’re on much lower levels
Cold here in Syd after a pretty mild day.
Snow looks to have gotten heavier at Perisher.
Yup. Snow from the east
Sorry we already have 70-80 base built and hard .. base done it’s on with snow building into piles .. 2 inches on 2 hours out of this storm heading south, not over yet
Crap its cold
3 C in Moorabbin
DGZ from 520 to 640mb, so ~120mb growth zone. That’s still pretty good!
Perisher the only resort registering new snowfall this AM.
Sub 20 to 30 , not 10 to 20..
Thought it was bit too far king good hence sharing.!
But I prefer not just skiing the groomers on man made.
Looks an sounds like still needs decent storm to fill it in.
Granted I'm not there btw , been waiting for some more terrain.
Nah, -10 to -20 Range is DGZ, you’re correct.
Looks sunny at Perisher.
It's not sunny driving down..
Guthega was nice last weekend but on the groomed only and patchy cover, though I've skied it in worse. Yes we need another dump!
Clear skies in Jindy, rain last night, roads could be icy. Full moon reflecting across the lake. Beautiful.
Rain between goulburn and Canberra. Solid low cloud.. .Greybird. Could be Scotland .
Ha! I thought exactly that at Lake George last night. Just need more distilleries
Need a coffee... Not sure about scotch his early.
So hot in Scotland right now. It's got be 14-15 and is so dry. Has rained in 2-3 weeks.
Apparently a couple of cars off near Penderlea. Fitting chains from Wilsons this morning, but I'm not really sure why. Icy on the hill.
Perisher much nicer than BC.
Yeah, I'm home now. Much fog at BC, didn't bother with Guthega, it looked foggy too.
Pretty simple realy. Farktards think snow = icey roads. You slow down when its snowing only. In reality the more dangerous times for ice are those really cold clear mornings when there is moiture on the road that will set as solid slippery ice.
So the usual situation is. When its 2 degrees and still snowing, water coming up off the road on tires, swishing sound of liquid water on the road - you'll get safety sam driving 20km/hr with hazards on. But the next morning when its cleared overnight, is now -5 and all that liquid water is now ice - the same idiot will be tailgating trying to drive 100km/hr.
Well yes, but the Perisher road didn't feel icy by the time I drove up, temps hovering around 0c. Earlier it apparently was. There's a few regular spots and Penderlea is one of them.
Yeah sorry - didn't read your post properly. Just wanted to get that rant out and saw half a chance.
I get your rant, as I was driving up our steep hill with a notorious shady corner at a speed I felt comfortable with, I was feeling the same about the car tailgating me
That corner is appalling.
Stay on topic.
Weather obs for this period - which is expired!
Sorry it’s groomed but only slightly topped by man made , what’s your problem with that , we skied it for a week last year and voted it good
The point here is that there is 70-80cm of hard packed base , a quick look at the predictions in here I see another metre on the horizon, book your trip
will i need chains to get to Selwyn next weekend ?
