Be rude not to kick the New Fin Year off with a Himawari8 grab from this morning. As the subsiding system heads through the Bight.

Albany recording 8.4ºC overnight, a fraction over it's Mean Min Temp for July.

I observed a lot of rain on roof overnight in Thredbo Village. Clearer now.

+3 at guthega right now, cloud base about 1800. Humid. Feels like rain on the way.

11am view at 1700m Twynam creek. Gluggy snow, patchy. Cloudbase about 1750m, winds increasing gradually again after easing a little overnight.

Watching people trying to pick a line down high noon in Thredbo village. Sun's out for now with a chilly breeze. Probably 5c in the village.

started flogging down here at Buller around 4.30am. At 5.00 we had huge flakes blowing in horizontally. Sticking on the ground in grassy areas. Not much to speak of yet and has eased off yet but looking out the window, the cars have a thin layer of settled snow.

    Game on

2100hrs balloon out of Melbourne last night suggests models overcooked temps at low-mid level. Enough to deliver the clear stuff.

    FL: 2800m
Models going for ~2500m at 10pm (YMEL)

12.4mm so far for Thredbo Top. All above 0

As someone who has only skied in July since 2016 (having previously only skied late August) and only really followed the awesome obs and predictions on here since 2018, I can't help but feel at little sad at this system. Are we sure this is normal, or has to be normal...

:blb: 2 degrees colder now than it was when I woke up at 04:30 and let's be generous and say, at best, we have a "wintery mix" at Buller. There's still snow on my car outside so it hasn't gone completely. Hoping we go back to the nukage of 05:00

That would've been a big gain for today if that happened.
    4cm/hour stuff.

10mm at Buller as of 7:30am. 20mm for Hotham.

Thredbo Top Station has just hit 0 with 16.8mm in the can. Potential for 5-10cm up top today if the trend continues IMO.
