Every car parked on the side of the road on the way to Buller should be treated as a speed camera, they are too often to risk it.

Yup, I'm very cautious sticking to speed limits to/from Buller, as there are usually cameras along the way somewhere or other (apart from sticking to the limit for safety, particularly when dark, foggy or slippery as is generally the case). I figure a ski trip is expensive enough without adding to the cops' coffers.

A few k's before or after any of the townships seems to be the most regular locations.

Yup, wherever it goes down from 100 to 80 then 60, that's exactly what I'm doing, even if it's just those tiny 100m strips through the tiny towns (even those annoying sections when they were building the north-south pipeline, which were altering so frequently at 50m intervals you could barely keep note of them all

) . Haven't been nabbed yet, and no intention to do so. I'd rather spend those funds on apricot moguls.

You know I dont know why this isnt discussed and implemented more often. These days cams are not expensive, neither is bandwidth, and electricity is pretty much over the whole mountain. If a resort wanted to get seriously honest they would have a cam pointing directly at one or more of their snow depth gauges. That way it completely removes any doubt when it comes to snow depth at the point of measurement. From there you can make your own assumptions about the depth on individual runs.

I would like to see this done at Spencers creek too, although I know it would be tough to get electricity out to there. Apart from the people who measure the depth does anyone else really even see the snow depth stick up there?

Anyone know if the roads are open in the village to those without a village pass.

The road is open, anyone can drive into the village. There are only a handful of people up here ATM.

15-20 cm's is about the depth of the snow from the last 48 hours odd. Its a pitty the lifts arn't running
as this is a good cover, better then whats been here for weeks.

The resort recommend you carry chains, there is a bit of snow on the main roads, with roads like
up to mansfield club with around 15-20 cms.

Spent some time with Ians158 today, sunshine and snowing at the same time this afternoon.

His board has carved up most of the summit area now.

Good to meet you djam

Drove most of the way to the summit car park, then had a ripper of a day cutting laps in the sunshine on my splitboard. An occasional snow shower but not a problem.
Cover was ok,shrubs here and there, knee deep in some spots.

Yep,nice end of season turns.
Loved every second of it.The crew do it tough some seasons at buller, they have to work with what they get.The second half of this one was a bit slow, but you could get turns if you wanted.
If you wanted.
