Remind me why we are not in the car?

The rage that I unleashed when I got to work only to realise I am on my own today and could have gone was all time.

OK it looks like we'll get a break until about lunch time, then it should roll in again, even colder this time. I've been impressed by the temps so far, I dont think the tracking of the low is going to be a problem for Buller, by the time the low tracks north I think enough moisture will have been swung around and on collision course with us. I'm calling another 20cms+ by this time tomorrow.

Looks like Buller officially has a season now. For all those about to grab freshies, I salute you.

Only happens during intense rain, the saggy gutters can deal with constant rain no worries.

We haven't really had much rain in Melbourne. That's what happens when the low tracks directly over the City.

I know it looks like el nino is coming, but Melbourne's water storages may be nudging 80% by the end of August.
Should be 75% today.
I doubt we'll get another 5% by end of month. That would be a deluge. 80% would be a good target by end of September.

BTW, is Buller's B-Tag system working properly yet? I now have a B-Tag but want to be sure that if I load a day ticket onto it, the tag will actually work the next morning.

It wasn't working for me last weekend. E-store not happening.

Had to personally attend to have it loaded. Most annoying.

Noted it was working on Sunday arvo though.

Had a great morning up here today. 20cm fresh sounds about right.

LBS was closed for races, but wombat was nice. Then went to robins which almost had too much powder for my all mountain skis.

Then went to south side, men's was very nice but yurredla was the pick of the morning with some great freshies

Did Standard just before lunch to check out the bull run bowl, but it really needs 30cm more to cover the shrubs.

Will check out the north side after lunch.

One of the best days at Buller in memory for me. Snowed for most of the day, really quiet, still getting freshies in the afternoon. Summit slide was great but low visibility. Dam run and surrounding trees were heaps of fun.

Looking forward to the same again tomorrow

Up to Buller on Sunday and have not been there for some years.
Last time enjoyed Summit area but too short. Any suggestions for blue/black runs ? Sounds a dumb question but don't recall the layout. Thanks

can Anyone give an update of how much snow was delived out of todays present?

A lot! 25 seems like a pretty good estimate! I am dreading the crowds tomorrow.

Today was the best day I have EVER had at Buller, and the second best powder day I have ever had in the southern hemisphere. Granted I wasn't good enough to ride powder until a few years ago so my opinion isn't worth much, but today was pretty epic.

My favourite part of today:

(near Powder Keg, sort of right)
"Should we go left or right?"
"I dunno, right looks a bit sketchy, maybe it's not tracked out for a reason..."
along comes a group of 6 or 7 guys on skis, heading right
"Maybe these guys are going that way because they are better than us..."
Guys start jumping off everything, skis and poles are flying everywhere, they are falling into bushes, holes, ect, some are landing upside down.
"No, they are just crazier than us, lets go left."

These guys weren't that young either, they looked like they were in their 40's,

. Good fun.

Tirol all the way to the bottom looked pretty good.

It was not worth the hike out, heavy heavy powder.

At least I can say I did it this season.

Went up yesterday, snow wasn't great at all. Fairly heavy.

They reported 28cm Friday night but the snow report was officially 24cm Saturday morning...

Fed Bowl still needs a good 30cm really.

Tertiary students have a discount on Tues, people tend to long-weekend on either Fri or Mon, but really it's all much of a muchness.

I haven't found Buller to be crowded on the weekends this year let alone midweek.
