Hans Knauss camera run - with the 360d camera.

Wonder how long is going to keep doing these camera fore runs - he is 44. I remember meeting him in Chile when he was summer training in 1993.

Striedinger loses it just before the finishes but crosses line. Quite a bit of new snow on course.

Yeah but Eurosport has the German coverage rather than the Austrian.

Just had interviews with Franz & Arnie on ORF.

The have to get 30 racers through for the race to count - so looks like they will get there now.

Sounds like they have now just called the race off. They got 30 through so the result counts and the Südtiroler Peter Fill wins. The Swiss take places 2,3 & 5 - the best result for them for many years.

There was always the question of the fine weather window. With all the delays it was certainly closing in. The poor vis into the traverse and the compression was bad enough. Concensus seems to be that it was the right call. A few thought it should have been called earlier.

Probably not the right place for this.... I just noticed on FB that Cam Bolton, who competes in boardercross, has broken his back! The good news is that there is no spinal cord damage, bad news is that he is out for the season.

The aftermath of this race not good at all. 4 season ending injures (2 in training, 2 in race). 4 Austrians and the World cup leading Norwegian. Only Reichelt may be back this season. Svindal's injury even though he was able to walk away was found to be more serious after examination.

That's so bad. Hans wont be back. Bad bone bruise is minimum 4- 6 weeks. I think they should have halted the race

 Just tune in to the slalom at Kitzbühel and see the race has been interrupted with yet another injury for the first runner Razolli. He is being helied out also. Haven't seen a replay yet.

Weather again not good. What a weekend. :(

Not an easy course. Hirscher almost skis out near the top and snaps his ski pole. Even Kristofferson made several errors and is 0.8 sec down.

Another win for Vonn at the Cortina SG and she moves into the overall lead. She is just owning the speed events this season. Another podium for Larisa Yurkiw in the Cortina DH, four this season.

Gutted to hear Svindal is out for the season. Wonder how the jury feels about their decision to eke out the race in light of the injuries sustained. Can't help but speculate if they would have made the same call at an untelevised event or a track other than the legendary Streif. Highly qualified and skilled people are still capable of making mistakes, look how many respected, experienced big mountain skiers have been lost to avalanches.

Loose fresh snow on a downhill course. Recipe for disaster. But the event means a lot to the town and those 60 to 80 000 watching would have been possibly unruly fuelled up with booze and adrenalin.

Yeah I remember cursing him for beating the Austrians. Much too young to leave us.
