Email from Mt Baw Baw claims that the 2015 snow season had the most visitors on record. Great news for the little mountain!
They certainly had the conditions for it. Skied on opening weekend, and apart from perhaps a week or two in mid June there was skiable snow for the entire season. IMO they could have stayed open at least another week or two with the snow they had.
It would seem they are getting more snow as we speak, so you would think that if they cannot run all the lifts due to financial reasons (lack of patronage), they could at least keep one or two open just for the school holidays?
Mm a shame Bbaw cant retain a standby crew for reopening in Sept Schl Hols. Its not unusual for the snow to bounce back and the loss in patronage could be significant. Oh well, same old!!
I am right here! I have not put my skis away just yet and have been monitoring conditions. not sure if I want to drive that far for wet slush. The thing is, being on the west side I have to contend with peak hour traffic on the way out and the way back. I think that might be it for me this season, malheuresement as they might say in Paris!
C'est triste. Will go solo then. Wet slush? Not the pristine powder of a certain secret bowl, to be sure, but fresh snow, nevertheless. Ever considered the train? I'm happy to drive, pick up from Berwick or Pakenham. Could be a long time before next skiable snowfall.
I really appreciate your offer but I have decided that's it for me this season. maybe I'm just lazy, don't know. I have actually just come in from packing away my skis in the garage. I even took the chains out of the car! look after yourself if you go up and pack a chainsaw,
hope you had a good ski. no waxing done, just chucked them in to ski bags on top of the toilet in the garage. I did crank up the guitar today after installing new humbuckers last week. I also walked 4km with the dog and cycled nearly 30km on my sons road bike. but I still wish I had gone skiing, just couldn't handle over 400km round trip!
Its easy to record the highest visitors ever, when the estimate of persons per car, rises each year, from 2.4 a few years ago, to 3.7 per car this year. The numbers are being fiddled each year to give a higher result. Perhaps a bonus is being paid for exceeding KPI visitor numbers....am I being suspicious? I heard that 90% of statistics are made up! Don't always believe what is reported.
There would have been that many per car in earlier years too The point is that the numbers are being manipulated to show a non-existent increase
