Ok, just bought my passes for next year. The net increase is $21 per pass. Seems to be mainly from an increase in the tube.
BUT I added pass protection for the first time, as I have learnt that lesson the hard way this year.
I had to undergo back surgery about a month ago. Unexpected, obviously, but season ending for me. That's my pass, my son's pass, season lockers and season accommodation wasted. An expensive time. Oh well. Bring on 2018!

Having experienced back surgeries in the last 2 off-seasons, you have my most genuine sympathy and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Missing ski days to injury and illness just adds to the pain of the condition. Get well and come back stronger!

I had the laminectomy for a T12 nerve decompression. What was you recovery time? I'm three and a bit weeks out. Off the painkillers. But started cortisone today for the inflammation.

Someone start a poll. I wonder what $$ will make people buy at Thredbo instead of Perisher.

    Just curious.

Already stingers on PSR about the increase.

I wonder how much extra their electricity is going to cost to run the place next year. Seems to be lots of news items of late about how the electricity prices are going up, given how dependent Perisher's operations are on it, I imagine it would have to hurt.

If it keeps some of them away I'll be happy. Deposits paid, ski tube and protection locked in x 2.

Noticed all the Epic US resorts now have holiday blackouts, not sure about last year but previous year it was only the majors that were restricted. Others like Keystone and ?? were open all hours.

When I last looked the link to pass upgrades wasn't working but on past offerings I'd assume + $300 to remove all restrictions?

It's like that now. We're headed to Colorado this year and can't ski on the pass anywhere during the Xmas week and on 13? January. We can buy half price tickets though.

I looked at upgrading our passes but for a few days wasn't worth it, especially as my 17 year old school student would have had to upgrade to adult full pass.

Have been questioning how much money, time and effort we're putting into Perisher trips, given we're lucky enough to do a Northern Hemi trip each year. Thinking about dropping Season pass or switching to Thredbo 365 for some Summer activities next year. Especially as 18/19 will likely be a Japan trip for us, no Epic benefit.

Signed up, with insurance but no ski tube. Tossing up buying the thredbo pass, which is out now, as I have the last two years. This season has seen a lot of shortened trips for us due to illness, babysitting etc etc so while I got the days out of both I don't feel the full value yet. Hoping for a good early September.

The Seniors went up by $60 from this years price. A 12% increase - a bit more than CPI:( but still great value.

It looks like we shall be getting the passes soon, after a day trip Sunday. Seeing as MrsOG has been a perpetual beginner that means lots of time at Smiggins etc which will fit in with our grand-parenting child minding duties - take the little guys with us mid week. The oldest will be four and a half and the younger just under three but he is the more outgoing risk taker so should go fine, with just pit stop issues to manage on the trip from/to Canberra (or nappies if he is still not fully toilet reliant for a couple of hours at a time). A quieter day for sure with lots of just snow play but as old geezers that is on the cards anyway.

Oh well. Done the deed, and paid the full amount too upfront.

Maybe even a trip back to Breckenridge in Jan/Feb 2019, with fingers crossed it works out this time.

4 less Epic Passes next year for us. Too busy once we get back from the US leg of our Epic 17/18.

Then maybe Austria Xmas 18/19 and a mountain collective trip 20/21 may mean no Perisher for a while :(

if you put a deposit down and for whatever reason don't want to proceed in 2018 can you withdraw prior to final payment being made and just lose the deposit or will they chase you for the full amount?

Withdraw...not really. I really think its a case of who you get on the other end of the phone/email.
Chase ..No i don't think so.
However I think your account will forever be marked with a black cross.
The easiest way would be to cancel that credit card.

Last year it wasn't available after the initial time period. You could buy a Perisher only season pass for something over $1000.

The full Perisher pass was over $1000 and the USA Epic passes wouldn't be available for an indefinite time, would they? I imagine they disappear once the season starts too.

I think full passes last year were around $1600, not sure when the cut off date would be but looks like you've missed the $49 deposit, need to pay in full now.

@skivet, I think today might be the last day you can buy the Epic pass. It is $839 per adult - go to the Perisher website. After Feb, I think the price goes up a lot or the pass simply isn’t available, from memory.
