Grandpa oh and computer programmer too.
I've gone downhill since the photo I uploaded years ago was taken but with most people wearing helmets and goggles it must be difficult to tell if the photo matches anyway.

You’d be surprised. I’ve known them to randomly call out names too, to see if the person reacts.

I wonder if they ever actually pull people up. With helmets, goggles and face shields it would make it difficult to actually recognise anyone.

We went down for beers and a couple of runs down FV on opening weekend and Little Swede was pulled up, "Hi darl, I know who you are and recognise you from seeing you here for many years. Your profile pic is really cute but VERY old so some of my colleagues will not recognise you, please update your photo tonight for me”

They pulled up my sister first day she skied perisher last year. Shes gay and likes to wear men’s clothes more than women’s. Took off her googles and smiled and they were like whoops sorry. She thought it was hysterical.

Haha yeah she's at that perfect age now when she's not old enough to drink but old enough to drive me to and from the pub :)

Very good. One of these years I will make an Epic year-long trip out of one of these passes; currently loyal to the Epic pass, though variety is sometimes the spice of life. I wonder if there are any Worldwide Leader boards? Nothing like being able to start a record for a bit of PR - @Normo ????

One of my ski buddies, Allan, loves to intentionally stir up the "pass checkers". He piles on as many disguise techniques he can and then waits patiently at every lift que until they ask him to show his face - upon which he sets upon them. I get a bit embarrassed and do the uncomfortable shuffle left or right, forward or back because I know they are only doing their job. He sees the checkers as a huge waste of money adding to the cost of operations excessively. Some of the staff are valuable assets to Perisher whilst others seem to do more harm than good in terms of PR.

There is a leaderboard for North american Epic resorts. Perisher doesn’t feature. Different system to ours

    https://www.epicmix.com/Leaderboard.aspx

Theres more to life and skiing than leaderboards though;)

Maybe Allan could divert that energy toward the numbnuts who have no idea about lift queue etiquette and leave those who are paid to do a job to....do their job.

Especially seeing (at least in Australia) a lot of the checkers don't get wages but get a season ticket and a bonus for each ticket cheat they pick up. Apparently the top checker at Perisher got around $10k this year, at $50 per ticket cheat.

Think you’re confusing the paid ticket checkers with the volunteer “hosts”.

Yeah it is the hosts, that are mainly at the key busy lifts (think quad chairs, village idiot, etc.). Got a mate of mine who is retired and lives in Jindy. Does one or two mornings a week during the season and is often a nice little earner for him on top of the free season pass.

Normally clean shaven, got back from Afghanistan looking like this. Suffice to say got asked to get a new photo. They even to the extent of quizzing me on date of birth and email address. Could see the disappointment when I could answer everything without hesitation.

Exactly that, the conditions are that the pass is for the individual so using someone else's pass is a breach of the conditions.
