That's +44 on our local up-and-coming kid, Jarrah :p

;)
Well done Jarrah, but give Isaac a break. a) 18 years old b) first real race he's been in c) rental skis d) little if any interest in him from LM elite e) until this year only ever skied recreationally with family f) first skiing day away from LM was to Falls less than 12 months ago g) doing it all on a shoestring student budget.

Would have been a pearler of a day after a good freeze. Fast times??
Winner was 1:39:55. National coach Valerio Leccardi beat his charges, Phil Bellingham and Callum Watson. In the women's race Barbara Jezersek beat Aurelie Dabydyk and Cambria McDermott

I can't take the credit for that. I've waxed his skis for all his life - since he was tiny tot, and waxed his skates all this season for his training, but advised him to go to the pros for the Hoppet.

Good on you you Tecks for your frankness. Nice to see home grown success!

...I note a few of my friends competed in the 7 /21 km, with a couple of their kids in the top half doz. of their age/gender group. (Bragging!)

you've still encouraged and supported him. he wouldn't have got as far as pro waxing without that

We did the Hoppett (Mini), didn’t crash once but was constantly in fear on the skinny skis! Might move up to the Half Hoppett next year.

I've offered Isaac a deal which he's accepted: I'll buy him a pair of good racing skates if he wears a badge saying something like 'Sponsored by Mystic Mountains Ski Hire'. ;)

He's also considering joining the Birkebeiner Ski Club, seeing as LM is showing no interest in him. That's absurd. He shouldn't have to travel to Falls to train/get mentored etc when he lives at Buxton.

their loss is our gain :)

I don't know anything about the LM xc scene but birky seems very egalitarian and welcoming

Sounds ordinary Teckel. Do they actually sponsor anybody? Being pseudo govt. I would expect they'd not splash sponsorship money around generously. Not excusing it - govt businesses are pretty tight. Mostly.

Fwiw: Good on you for sponsoring a young local up & comer. :)-)
