2011 was the first one for season 2012 $699 https://m.news-mail.com.au/news/perisher-launches-brand-new-pass/1089463/
Pass only was $779 last year, so $20 increase. All up I paid $909 last year with skitube and insurance. They usually up the skitube price each year too.
Hey mate. Good to see you back. On topic. Considering the patronage this year. They could have bumped it up significantly. But they seriously need to update lifts and terrain like Buller is doing. But yeah yeah, the lease needs to be sorted.
Never have I paid for the skitube , never will either but each to their own. Might be looking at the Hotham/Falls pass next year anyway.
I think tube was a bit cheaper on top of the pass price with the first Freedom Pass I always get it - the drive up to Perisher, then the parking nightmare just became too tedious
I wouldn't go near a VIC resort fullstop. Having to chain up my AWD would drive me nuts. 20 years ago I was a Hotham regular. On that topic. National Parks need an AWD sticker you can apply for if you have an AWD. Cars being stopped and conversation over it's AWD status is causing traffic chaos at the chain up area.
If it's stopped, and it's a discussion, it should be chained. You should have seen the abandoned cars last week.
I buy season passes for all, and add the train to mine only. I drive straight into PV at 0700hrs, park in day parking, unload into Hans, brekky at lodge, ski all day, drive car to Bullocks that evening, train back up for beers at the Man. Reverse to recover the family starting with 5am train down to Bullocks. Given we are in the Park about ten times per year, getting the All Parks Pass plus skitube for me is way cheaper, and less stress.
I must admit that earlier this season I was asked if my vehicle was 4WD by one of those roadside operatives. I replied that it was , with upgraded rally code suspension and running on AT KO2 tyres and still I was asked to pull into the chain bay. The operative there just looked at me , laughed and waved me on. Maybe some education for these operatives would be a good thing. By the way I regularly see AWD vehicles, with highway tyres I might add , "parked" in snowbanks and abandoned in the Siberia/Wattles region of the Alpine Way.
Give me a break. I've driven straight past 4WD F150's bogged at the axle. Just because it doesn't scream AWD. Doesn't mean it's not capable. Regardless. We have laws. AWD's are exempt. Enforce the law. Not some random's interpretation. Provide certification to improve traffic flow.
The ski tube add on is worth it for me. Used it last Saturday, saved a nightmare trip down the hill. Also if you fluke an invite to a lodge for a few days one ski tube open return is more exxy than the season pass add on.
So if I was to go skiing at Park City next Xmas - ie Dec 2019 what would my best epic pass move be? Due to bub unlikely to ski NSW in 2019.
So how is $799 punters? What was the price of the "Freedom Pass" prior to Vail? Everything on par with inflation .....as no major investment to improvement made yet?
works for me. i get around 20 days on the hill sometimes 25 ish so..... stay on snow 99% so tube not on my radar.
No investment will be made till the head lease is sorted. In comparison. My daughters tennis is $600 a year. Roughly 46 one hour sessions. Season passes don't look so bad then.
Not bagging.............just asking if Vail is keeping prices realistic to service provided? Last time we skied NSW was snowmagen, otherwise its NZ / Japan for us.
I'm not asking if one sport is a better financial option than another................just asking if Vail are doing the right thing by the punters with prices?
Indeed you did and I took your advice. I buy the add on every year, if you add it later you get fleeced. Always use it at least once.
We all agonise a bit then sign up cos the end result is always worth it. Thredbo will now have to get theirs out quick smart. I get both, as I am pure of heart and this is my only obsession
There are cheaper deals in the US. My kid in San Fran is getting a better deal for Tahoe only resorts. I'm sure there's probably a Utah version.
What was the cost of the "freedom pass" prior to Vail.............I have $645 in my head? @Normo and others would be able to clarify.
