Just finished up at perisher. From first tracks to last - what a day!

Boot deep and dry snow in places all day with snow falling on and off all day. One more big dump and this place will be epic.

If you're 50/50 planning on coming down, just do it, plenty of fun to be had

    EDIT: snowing steadily perisher

The Ovens at Wangaratta is hovering around the moderate flood level. Plenty of water flowing out of the hills atm.

I observe the temp dropping and now hovering at 0.1c at my machinery shed near Tumbarumba. Dark clouds approachng but very little wind.

I further observe that I just got back from 9 days in Perisher where I reckon I experienced 4 seasons in that time. Some days good and some days better but always damn better than being somewhere else. I also observe that I start another 9 day stint next Saturday where I will probably experience the 4 seasons again and guess what.............I am going to bloodywell enjoy it too.

Good day up at Hotham. It was not a fun drive up or down as mentioned earlier, blizzard conditions at points from around Duggeys Hollow through to Hotham Central and beyond.

Snowed the whole time we were up (midday through till 4). As the afternoon wore on it started to become light and fluffy.

Heaps of beautiful soft snow stashed everywhere but crunchy beneath. Was not cold, car only registering - 0.5 and it felt it. Wind was gusty and getting stronger as we left.

I'll post some pics later, didn't get many shots due to low visibility.

I have to say - some real tools on the road today. Leaving it was basically 1m visibility in front, whiteout and someone in a big 4x4 overtook a group of 4 cars heading down (this was around The Cross) and as he did so, didn't see another car in the other lane coming up - one car went off and and another very nearly ended up plowed into the 4x4.

Few cars span out, one off the right hand side almost over the edge where no guard rates were, another land cruiser lost it in front of me.

People need to slow down. And think.

This makes me so angry. Is the risk of killing some people (or delaying them by a few hours if they crash on the mountainside) worth that 10 minutes you made up by driving like an idiot?

    Seriously.

Buller doing well in the NW flow. Increased precip in the last hour. The frontal band is reminiscent of Friday's front after the rain, Buller could do well here.

Cedarwood suggesting snowing at Falls and the NW blowing it in under the eve where the cam is. Couple cms on the table after it was cleared earlier.

Can confirm snowing at Buller, a few cm sitting on the bbq at the lodge. Footprints from this arvo filling up nicely.

Edit: BBQ is in a sheltered area so not accurate gauge for the amount that has fallen

In Smiggins right now it is (very) windy. I just looked out the window and as far as I can see there is snow blowing around rather than it being new snow falling. I might be wrong but I think it is moving from A to B rather than being new snow. It was snowing earlier though (but not nearly as windy).

You can easily triple that number. Look at the front right side. The base of the cleared part is leeside and so deceptive.

Slow steady accumulation at Mt Ginini over 30mm in 24 hours always in the negatives so 30cm of snow at least. Its in an exposed very windy area to so could be 40cm or more up in the Brindies last 24 hours.
