It's only the westerly flow that kills Buller - a front like this is fine.
Skiing Buller is like following AFL Richmond.
Looks like it may have picked up a little bit of rain in the village ahead of the first band, but temps should be in the clear now as they head south from here on in.
I observe my desire for the wind in Jindy to stop
The system/s keep on delivering. So far this past 24 hours, Perisher has 25mm and Buller 23mm. Buller seems to have eased for the moment, Perisher pushing on. This event - the gift that keeps on giving.
unfortunately a lot of that moisture at Buller fell as freezing rain ( or not so frozen) during the day due to the westerly flow. But looking at the cams I think Buller will still have picked up another 10-15cm overnight so not all bad, especially with another follow front to come.
Be interesting to hear from those on the ground, but the cameras look pretty good this AM. (NSW)
falls looks like 15cm of fresh going by Cedarwood cam.
Perisher has 30cm in last 24 hours
Beat me to it.
Will take photos today when possible. Stay tuned!
Hotham 22cm report
Shame their cams are out
Falls has popped the 1m mark.
I would think 30cm in the last 24 hours was ok for Smiggins (and Prrisher given the freezing level has been well below the resort). Just looked out our door on the lee side of the building and a bit over 20cm has accumulated there overnight - was cleared right in front of the door, the buildup further back is over several days.
It is still too dark to be sure what it is doing outside right now, other than I can assure you it is windy. It look/sounds like small ice pellets (ie mini sago) hitting the windows rather than snow falling currently though.
I observe a high level of jealousy against those that can get on the hill today.
I reckon about 8 cm in Thredbo village.
Windy as, still snowing, the top of the hill is unvisible.
Well it definitely snowed some time last night. Fresh 30cm leaving me very happy indeed
Drive to ski tube - fitting chains from Penderlea, lots of traffic, very slippery take care.
Four wheel drive in front went sideways
Stay at home
from the lodge window here at perisher just near top of telemark it looks very similar to yesterday
very windy fresh snow on the ground and almost white out
i can see about 15 cm built up on the seat of a skidoo out the front that was out and about yesterday
going to be another day of fresh tracks but cold and low visibility and no doubt many chairs on hold
Looks like that last bit may not be ridged out!
Thredbo, the army of ploughs are oot and aboot
From Perisher facebook
Hotham. Looking good, still snowing, plenty windy
Migaloo, passing through...
Car off road Penderlea
Along with Centrelink carparks, it looks like the natural habitat of white Holden Commodores....
Very cold this morning in North Central Vic for a cloudy day. Still below 5c and overcast.
Stay on topic.
we note another severe weather warning is in place today for most of Vic..
also wind gust of almost 100 at approx. 6.30pm recorded yesterday in St Kilda...
also most of NE river systems at moderate flood level...Kiewa ,King, Ovens& Murray
great morning here at perisher
famtastic snow at interceptor in trees
visibility pretty good considering
still windy and quite a few lifts on hold
had s litlle snow falling on our last lift up
amazingly sun is trying to break through and light is good
not sure it will last
Falls Express cam showing flakes on the lens, and not many out there enjoying the fresh:
Snow is all time for me
Never seen it this good
The wind however......
correction river systems are better described as at minor flood levels in NE according to BOM...
but with the minor level for the Ovens in Wangaratta persisting for the week..
certainly lots of surface water around from casual observation driving thro...
major subsequent rainfall will be interesting should it occur over next couple of weeks..
I'd suggest they're scattered throughout the mountain enjoying it the better places to do so, which is not Wombats Ramble. You should've seen the lines on Saturday though.... All the way up the hill to the Last Hoot Pizzeria!
How could you not love a pic like this
I observe this makes me happy
Yeah that'd be the way to enjoy it. If you're not hitting the stashes in the Maze, I'd be getting amongst it there off Scotty's through the trees, and Lakeside. Bit of breeze about, so a little bit of shelter and definition given visibility looks low.
Is plenty cold (-3.5C), so lots of dry conditions. That ride up Scotty's would be a bitch tho!
wasn't a lot of fun on Saturday I can tell you. Mate even had his face mask on, it was the right call.
Couple of shots from this morning. EPIC!!!
Looks similar to a pic from 2014. At least someone remembered to shut the door on the bus this time.
Started very lightly snowing at bottom of Tirol at Buller about 10 mins ago. Still going
Downright chilly here in Melbourne.
I observe someone's big butt in the way of my snow accumulation gauge!!
That wind really cuts through
bloody snowboarders always in the way
Just spoke to my cousin who is trying to build a house just off the road to Mt Wellington and he has had snow there the past 3 days, so no work getting done.
the cam looked awesome when the clouds dispersed for a minute or 2
Any idea how much Mt Buller has had compared to Falls and Mt Hotham?
I observe no chairs on the quad above
bloody freezing in Gisborne...not sure what temp is but its not too crash hot...

The boys out in the fresh
Alex Chumpy Pullin
Back in after some great skiing. The wind is getting back up now.
