You just won the Internet today. Sensational photo.

I also observe that the incoming cold front dropped 6mm on Robe in SA and dropped the temp as well.

Gisborne less than 5decC no wonder Team Bears are frigid today!!!Seriously very cold airmass out west of Melb...

Even Ballarat appears to be warmer now???

Pt Fairy started out at 5degC at 8am and temp has only climbed to about `10degC at 1.30pm

    from BOM observations..

and Mildura has gone from 5degC to almost 14 in the same time interval....

    and Ballarat 1.5 to 5degC

Mt William has just managed to make it to zeroish....

definitely bottleshop after work for cans of rum/coke....

Can confirm wind at Blue Cow is very strong. Just scored a skidoo ride from the bottom of Early Starter to the terminal after making my way from the top of the Ridge Chair. Came that far via 'See Forever' which I would happily call 'see damn nothing' almost total whiteout in howling winds. Thank god for orange poles.

Got cold last night in Sydney, my boss was driving in from Gymea, and his windscreen iced up overnight. That doesn't happen too often.

Perisher cloud very low wind very strong blowing snow in. Snow quality as good as it gets in Oz but intermingled with wind scour and ice.

Adelaide radar lighting up again as per yesterday arvo. Pretty much exactly the same time as yesterday.
How are things on the ground?
Looks like the hills might be in for a similar dose as last night as it makes its way across.

    I note from the BOM:

The upper Onkaparinga catchment, the Angas catchment and the Bremer catchment are saturated and river levels are already high and are expected to rise again in response to further rainfall.

Nice photos still, looks really good !

I also observe Mt Mawson will need to dig the tow out by morning if they want to use it.

From the look of what I see at Mt P we may be looking at a decent base when measured on Thursday, could be 130 by then , another pile tonight , good work

I know it's only Mt. Buffalo but a great thing to see snow there again and they know how to measure it properly.

Boot to knee deep at Hotham today, face shots galore and freshies nearly al day. Good dry snow. Really good day to be riding.

Weather wise, whiteout, blowing a gale and super sketchy road conditions. Chains fitted about 1200m from memory

just back from the afternoon ski at perisher
    conditions are a lot heavier
    this is from our lodge
    [IMG]
it seems to me the wind has picked up
and the visibility has got worse
still lots and lots of stashes all over but a few icy patches being exposed in spots where its flat, open and wind prone
will be amazing once the wind settles and a bit of grooming can be done
hard to tell if it is snowing but i think it's mostly the wind blowing the fresh around

no big pineapple here ..its the "Big Plastic Ruler"...and they are measuring quantities in meters!! nearly one meter already??

before too long it will be three meters and over tobogan signage....
wait to marketing dudes catch up with this clever tool for snow depth measurement!!They probably sent scouts out already to take notes at Mt Buffalo...o_O
Team Bears now wanting a side trip to see" the Big Ruler"

First band about to hit should drop 10cm then the main stuff going through Adelaide should drop 20-25cm.

Looking at 30-35cm for the mains in this one IMO

Yep. Embedded storm cells in that second band. You get one of those and it's maybe 40-45.

Yarrawonga radar just starting to show a bit of moisture coming down from the NW.
Adelaide radar still looking ace, as it was 2 hours ago.
Tonight is set up nicely. Bulk cold air. Mt William hit a high of 0.5C. Adelaide made it to just short of 12C today.

Blowing hard all day here at Charlottes. Not sure if it's snowing or just blowing in off the main range. Almost whiteout half the time. Could be as many as 60 people skiing, I actually had to wait in a queue once just before lunch.

I recon this could be bigger than that June weekend I had in Threfbo a couple of years ago.

Back in Jindy after an EPIC day.

Spent the arvo at Guthega - no crowds and LOTS of wind blown. Waist deep in wind drifts - here's bottom of Freedom.

But, very wind scoured/icy at the top and a wind chill that burns the face off...

Cold cold again. Not as blowey but I'm up near Glenelg today at not home near Noarlunga so the wind might have picked back up since I left. Rain just starting to really get going now. No hail in this lot so far, was hoping for a bit.

We should break 100mm for Adelaide this July which is great. Already over the year to end of July average(317mm) with 417mm.

My personal forecast for tomorrow is 20 to 27 as I'm back to Cairns for a few days :D

Days like this it was dialled for, lapping the top half in the wind......

I observed very good conditions at Hotham today.
25-30cm of good quality fresh on a now quality base. No ice anywhere.
Seems well bonded and pretty stable.
Untracked was not too hard to find even later in the day.
Some lovely stashes in the trees.

Not a cut-off in a traditional sense but a front has developed with a clear, defined leading edge as opposed to trough (depression). Generally this would mean a defined barrier of cold/moist air mass.
