Wind has really picked up with the incoming front.
Temp has noticeably dropped also
No sign of the cold air in NSW yet. In Cooma and its steady rain and a crazy 15 degrees. Yikes.
Down another degree in the last 30min at Falls Creek. Down to 2.6. Should go neg or close by about 4pm IMO.
I observe that Falls and Buller have fared significantly better than all the other majors for volume of rain.
Kiama just smashed through the July record high by 1.2C and still rising. This is the second time this week the previous max of 24 (jul 4 1992) has been broken.
I assume record July temps are going to be reported all over the SE today.
No matter how much snow comes in the next few days, new bookings for Aug/Sept are probably going to drop off fast.
Buller down to 1.
Perisher should bring up the ton in the next few hours. Impressive. Access-R on the money!
The BBQ area opposite the Info Centre is now under water (Thredbo)
The bands passing through Western and central Vic now aren't going to bring snow to the resorts. Still needs some cooling to do but just look at the good gear is passing to the south of port Lincoln now on the radar, due late tonight-v early tomorrow. I think this will be our real turning point for snow in the resorts IMO.
Meanwhile vommitting down here in Jindy. Still a balmy 12C which probably matches the lake!
Atleast he won't need any lube...
Cant post pick but bottom of Mt P is a river
The best example of Adiabatic cooling this season!
Bayside Melbourne I'm assuming
Going to take a lot of snow to get back to the ton.
Yeah thats it
leading each of this frontal system looks to be very close now to Caroline Springs(west subs melb) getting very dark no blue sky anywhere now...
wind speed picking up
and we see Sydney has reached 25degC crazy.....r u Sydney dudes at the beach??
moderate UV warning say Bears between 11.00 and 1.30pm!
Pretty much hall marks of a strong front though.
Light snow at hotham.
Temp drop and rain through Bayside already
(educated guess edit-at top)
What makes you say that. I think they will. These bands are snow IMO.
Any word on status of Jindy in gneral and JHP in particular. So glad we bought above the flood level. Lower Snowy Rv must be nearly full so they won't be letting water out of the dam much. Guess we're lucky the snow pack is currently pathetic so should be no more than a close call - unlike the 2012 stuff up.
Still 1.9c, not sure it could be snow?
Squall line impacting Melbourne CBD now. Blowing!
In the past.... Seen cars up to their door sills at carpark other side of the walk bridge from there.
Beautiful rainbow as the rain started in Jindy this morning.
Adiabatic cooling - if it's windy enough. Not impossible.
Then I guess there's nothing to be concerned about. Just a typical July day ...
That's why picking the moment rain transitions to snow is very difficult.
Factor in temperature, winds, wind direction & orientation of landscape.
They were releasing water from the dam when I drove over it this morning.
ICEBERG DEAD AHEAD
I'm not sure why but i Just waxed the boards... in T-shirt and Shorts. 27c here in Schofields. Le sigh #Straya
Here it comes, near Moe.
Still very warm. Just merely speculating. I feel we'll see a dip and maybe some flurries/wet snow with localised cooling and strong winds but will turn back to rain.
I just think it still has some cooling to do before we see anything accumulate in the resorts.
4.8c at Thredbo top now - hopefully the temp keeps dropping at this rate
Lake Jindy is very high its pouring and ultra windy but warm
That's no creek...
I drove over it an hour ago... They've still got the plug out!
Sorry, should have emphasized light. Up at summit only. I can't post pics, check hotham fb
A report from those in the know at Perisher- Guthega wont be opening tomorrow, Smiggins doubtful at best.
Smiggins has been decimated, theres rivers coming down the tee tracks. Not skiable anymore
I would've thought it'd be heavy... Given the way it's been chucking it down!
You don't have to be in the know... just look at the cams
