Well, I'll be ******. Been a mild night here, and the temp at LM was 1 deg when I went to bed and 0.6 when I got up. Been a miserable winter - only one fall worth commenting on - 10 cm a week ago which was washed away on Wednesday. So imagine my surprise when I woke to the LM cams showing the place all white! 10cm they claim.
Awesome day yesterday at perisher. Heavy rain and wind in jindy most of the night. Snow on the road from sawpit creek. We we camped there for the last week. Glad we moved on yesterday, would of been an extra challenge packing up a tent covered in snow.
I'm in Myrtelford for the next few days. Rained here for a good few hours in the wee hours of the morning. Cold. Will probs head up to Mt Buffalo later today for a look around.
Baw Baw to get a few more cms this morning but the rest of the resorts are pretty much done. Good overnight result IMO.
they only seem to build the big (30ft???) booters for the comps and late season these days. Especially when there isn't much snow around.
Yeah it's the Advanced Falls park so does need a lot of snow to build those big booters. Seems like with the lighter falls this season that they are focusing more of their attention on Drovers and will probably ramp up Ruined Castle in the next few weeks now that there's a bit more to move around....
A few instructors I have been with seems to think that it's a waste of money, as I was told it costs a lot of manpower to get those big jumps up, and used by a very few...
they would be right. Outside of comp time when there's a few more legit riders in town there's rarely anyone using them.
The improvement in the Drovers park has a lot to do with it. There's actually more for the intermediate rider in the drovers park than Ruined. Sorry for the O/T.
Best powder day of the season @ Perisher. Cover is great, blue bird day yesterday, dump last night, fresh tracks all morning on Eyre, International & off Olympic/Sun Valley; Blue bird day again at noon. It's rarely this good!!!
My Son was bitching about all the powder on Mt P as he is not used to it. Lost him in a huge drift to resuface looking like the Yeti... Can't please everyone
Funny that. 'This guy' basically repeated what everyone was saying about this winter. Dry and Cold was the seasonal forecast by many.
Personally I reckon 10cm was bang on for this system 4 days ago I got the last warm rubbish system too >exit @Sandy self congratulatory mode
In the 90s parks were packed. That said they were more user friendly. Mid size. Used to love it. About to hit the surf in Anglesea after a bit of a landscape site survey. Found the water. Found the electricity. Save myself 300 dollars. Go surf. Nice and cool down here.
It was a very respectful treatment of "this guy" maybe the "bear pit "would be a more civil place if me had to refer to each other a Mr /Ms etc
Wind looks right on Predictions for Perisher at the moment. Beautiful day on the cams, first weekend I have missed down there in about 4 years
Drove up to Mt Buffalo this morning for the sunrise. It was beautiful and hope to post some photos once i get home and process them. It was -2c at the chalet with pockets of snow around though nothing worth writing home about. Managed to snap a nice shot of Hotham with the pink sky behind it before the clouds rolled in and ruined everything just after 7.
Adelaide already at 21 with these northerlies, hope the hairdryer isn't too strong over the mountains
