Thredbo is still at -1.9 at hotham -1.3, it wont rise that much before the front will it, it think it will be good to about 1600-1700m which is good for me becasue im at PB for 2 weeks from monday.

Some pics from the last event (A week ago). Something to keep us amused til something happens.

A curious cloud formation over Mt Bogong

The front moves in from the West

    Happy car.

Total accumulation from a morning of light snow can bee seen from what is piled up on the bonnet.

this looks like nearly the bigest rain band we have seen all season, and the temps are still good with thredbo -1.8 and hotham -1.6 go your good thing.

I know a bottle of Smirnoff at foodworks on buller is $45. Bring your own if u possibly can.

I am beginning to become more optimistic about this front, all my indicators point to a lower snowline than i previously thought. Fingers crossed.

What about the pre-mix stuff (ie. smirnoff double black) like at bars, etc?

Ditto what Verm said. But leave the Vodka outside overnight till it goes thick and then have it straight. Nothing like snow chilled vodka with toast and coffee before you hit the terrain park.

Make sure you crack the seal before you chill it and make sure its Finnish not Russian.

    (just kidding)

If its still only -0.8 at the Falls AWS then its going to be wet in the Village. Hope it cools down a bit or the Car Park cam is gonna be worth sweet FA for judging what is going on up top

Yer i think the same (from what i have learnt), that we it will be about 40min before the front reaches FC and it will definatly need to be colder. But it wouldn't be that much of a temp diff would it?

Wait til the next temp update for Falls.

If it cracks minus one you are in luck. Lots of moisture on the way.

Falls has just gone from -.8 to -.6 .... could be the slight "pre front" warming?

You guys in Melbourne are about to get absolutely spanked by that system... can't say that I have seen a front that big (in size not nastiness) in the past 5 years I've been poking around these sites!!! If you miss out on a bit of snow this time then it really is time to say bon voyage to the season!! Fingers crossed that some of the green turns red and that you enjoy it because I don't think that too much of it is going to head to the NSW slopes [IMG] . Great to hear that you had such a good time Rossi... despite getting the flu!

Thanks Megs, the only reason I got the pics of the snow front was because I was up with a fever at four in the morning. Still went skiing on the freshies though - cooled me down a bit.

Still got the bloody bug and it almost killed me driving back to Brissie.

Hard to say, when it came thru last week it was warm in front of the front then when the thick cloud cam over the **** dropped out of the thermometre. It was weird I couldn't work out whether it was my cold or the air temp.

One thing is for sure it definately got colder with the cloud cover so the same thing may happen again tonite.

The strange thing with the mountains is that the clouds wrap themselves around resorts in a kind of freezing fog phenomenon and you get a rapid drop in temp.

What you dont want is to be in the cloud with crappy little ice particles falling on you and it snowing lower down.

Dont like the look of the temp in Buller. Still in plus figures and the moisture is almost on them.

Poor Rossi... and then to drive that far home... if it had been me I'm sure I would have teared up a little! I was a liitle bit sad driving the 5 hour back to Talbingo from Falls and a week later back to Sydney...But they were great pictures... and I'm sure that you and the fam had a great trip even if your nose was running like a tap... at least the scenery was better than usual to look at than if you had caught it at hom and were just staring at the same four walls!! And a note to all of us who are fretting about missing out on snow or poor conditions.. if Rossi can say that he had a great time even though he was up to his eyeballs with the flu then the rest of you are going to have a blast! And I think that I may have been a little excited about that front... I was looking at the 144 radar rather than the 288... still is a pretty l;ooking front though!!

Touch and go, watch the cam in the carpark.

If its cold up high and there is not pre frontal then you could be lucky. Its still got to get a bit colder for the accumulation to stick.

It's a funny thing to watch that band coming through and start to hit Buller.. and to watch the cam and watch the conditions changing right along with it... the wretched r*&n will turn to the fluffy stuff we are after sooner or later... just need the temp to drop just a little... come on snow  's!!!

No, that's melt running off & down the carpark... If it was wet you'd see the lights reflections..... Snow & it would be seen on the cars.
