Mid station grooming..... (from FB)
A reliable source on the hill , Hotham , tells me there is 60-70cm snow depth so far
I think weve reached a point where the depth dpoesn't matter. All the stuff on the ground is well covered and skiable. Now its just about the top 10cm.
I'd feel that way at 1.5m
Not complaining for early season though!
Nice drive up this morning!
Sponars looking very pretty!
Have a look at normos shots. Cover doesn't get much better than that ever.
Yep Perisher only needs about 75cm of snow coverage to open the majority of lifts. Everything on top is a bonus
For the record a great start for 2019..now let’s hope it delivers right through.
Baw Baw looking great as well.. Sorry boss cant groom there is a car in the way ??
massive drifts on the bluecow live cam behind the snow fences
The desert snow farming thanks to Karl Gunther
Cold road looks slick
Heavy fog in the Dandenongs this morning kept temps around 4c. Finally starting to lift a bit and we have made it to 6c
Metro area falls
That's good rain for Melbourne, much needed I hear. I was down late March / early April and of couse it was freezing cold and raining but was told it was the first decent rain they had received in a long time.....
Donna Buang picked up just over 50mm in the last 24 hours as well, and 127mm since Saturday, so hopefully our catchments are now sufficiently wet as to see good runoff now for the next few months.
Looks like I am stuck in Baw Baw another night! Can't see any grooming activity at all. Snow up to the windows of my suv
No snow but car said 6 degrees this morn in Freshy . Work View tops though .
We're in its shadow and had 34mm, so good to see water running everywhere.
Go get some freshies
Pics or it didn't happen!
Gunuma Lodge cam at Smiggins finally got cleaned. Looks the goods.
Same as LM. Roads closed. No grooming. No official reports. Presumably it's the (joint) RMB that's responsible. All other resorts seem to be doing something about the snow.
I was talking with said snow cam installer during the storm about other locations to make it storm proof. A new cam will also be going out the back soon.
And regards to the Gunuma Cam. I can’t remember the last time Smiggins looked so good with Zero people around!
What an epic storm and start to the season.
walking straight up their own line !
Not to mention parallel tracks! Obviously they haven’t read the etiquette thread
my spies tell me he's booked in for the Season.
According to traffic.vicroads.vic.gov.au there is grading taking place on Lake Mountain Rd. As for Marysville Woods Point Rd, that took about 8 hours to get reopened earlier in the week. I'm hoping for something broadly the same today.
EDIT: Have to say, LM are really letting some of their live cams go. The cams that are working don't seem to adjust their grey balance very well. Many of the images are too dark
One ****ing skin track you turnips.
Whenever I complain about their cams not working, they tell me to look at their 360 deg cam. Well, as that is showing the date as 22/5 - that's a total waste of time atm.
Comment of the day!
Does it matter atm? No one else there and plenty of snow to come.
Common sense even ……...
Yes. It always matters.
Don’t get me started on why you’d bother with the bunny slopes....
It's actually a great line down there.
Have had many many freshies off first T .
Baha, Selwyn opened today!
Here's our famous moment captured in time.
Nah its far from a bunny slope
blanchys is that fun haha
Going to be some dangerous cornices out there inbound and out. Smiggs will need some work to start. Will be interesting to see any snowpack reports as the wind build should large.
full throttle warm up laps.
that morning it had snowed in Jindy. and after they groomed the previous night
boot deep fresh on top of the groomers
Tbj at stirling upper obs later
Great coverage sighted!
I now observe feverish grooming at baw baw on a few runs
