Yup... We were Beachside in 17 degrees. Watched it roll up the coast. Awesome.
Gotta be fake news
wow!! 9 degrees now in Sydney and rain. Definitely a cold front that will snow in a broad area...
The Badja at around 1pm - snowed all the way from Jindy to the top of the pass and half way back down again.
Roll on September...
Report from Wahroongah, 210 ASL, north of Sydney.
Wife and M15: "it was sleeting"
Me: "no it's too warm, it's hail"
Them: "Nope, it was soft and sticking to the windscreen"
Is it P ossible for a very cold cell to produce legit 'snow/sleet' in a short burst like this? Have experienced this before out near Orange in April but that's 800 ASL.
Uppers are no where near enough IMO.
FL around 1300m over Sydney at the moment. -22C @500mb says snow MAYBE possible to 900m IMO.
The miso needs to be taken to the snow to reminder her what it is...
Sleeting Mt Vic, upper BM's 1100M
snow at weird levels..... i would not be surprised atm
I would say "yes".
We had a similar episode at home ( Wandella, NSW far South Coast, and also coincidentally 210 asl) with the last stiff change, nothing sticking to any thing but definitely the finest of flakes floating in the wind. It lasted all of 2 minutes.
I expect it was the product of some serious turbulance coming off the ranges to our west.
A memorable treat !
reports of snow in robertson
What an August
Mt Boyce 2.0° and 99% humidity..... borderline.
You could probably assume sleet above 1050m, at a minimum IMO.
Some cool uppers filling in.
I observe that is correct
@tele-whippet and I are 4km as the crow flies from the Mt Boyce weather station, same height. As said earlier, on and off sleet.
She's seen plenty. Of snow. Normally I wouldn't credit it but their description had me wondering. Both been in all manner of snow/sleet/rain conditions dozens of times.
I left Thredbo at 8:00am, had to follow a very slow X1 all the way to Jindy. HEAPS of heavy snow all the way to Cooma with full blizzard around the airport and 4 Mile, sleet to Williamsdale, wet to Canberra and dry from there.
There was nil traffic control on the road at 8:00am, well except for at Thredbo carpark. Traffic was very heavy coming in with Penders Hill fully snow covered, no chain bay, no chains, traffic bumper to bumper coming down to the Skitube just waiting for someone to make a miscalculation. Absolutely dumping down. The plow had been through once by the look of it.
Anyway .... it was beautiful and great to get some snow shots of our block.
Just messing mate.
Simply my opinion that there was no chance of snow at 200m ASL in Sydney today. It's up there with calls of seeing it out the windows of Sydney's tallest buildings IMO.
All good . I'm still interrogating them. Sticking to their guns like UFO witnesses
For handle on the obs.
2 hrs previous..
Hit us with a venom...
Calling it coldest day of the winter down here. IMO.
Re-booted the fire when I got up this morn just because....
Have kept it ticking over all day.
What thread am I in?
I have heard a report of snow flurries at Arthur's Seat this morning.
Finding that a little hard to believe.
Saw a good vid of snow at Black Mountain Tower Canberra on ABC news site.
Crookwell this arvo
Reminds me of my wintery mix London days.

beat me to it.
Had a nice burst around 4.45pm up there. I have videos but pictures don't do it justice.
Goulburn, NSW @ ~650m ASL
Omeo around 1pm.
Shooters Hill around 4.45pm today:
psst. Not sure if this dude realises but Houston has it's own problems about now, it's flooded... They 'aint responding to Canberra's white hill issue.
fresh tracks for much of the day at Buller.
where are all the Buller haters?
Is there such a thing?
Every (good) dog has its day.

quite a few -10s or thereabouts this winter. -6 tonight
They are somewhere...
Other than the first 10 minutes with new wood my fire runs smoke free. Only get a bit of heat shimmer out of it.
From FB, blue bird at Jenolan this morning
Mt P looking fantastic this morning
-10.4c up at Hot Ham, darn cold
Went up yesterday expecting only a little snow and ended up getting more than expected which is always nice. There was no snow around the vehicle when we arrived - this is in Thredbo village. One of our best days at Thredbo for sure. We were told by others who didn't arrive as early that there was mayhem on the roads as well
