I think the race is on for 2018 to open before the 1st of June. Watch for the flurry of activity to buy new snowmaking gear to make it happen over the summer.
Perisher are hard at it still on FV. 11:30am and still gunning the snow. I think there might be some last minute oneupmanship happening, maybe a 7am Friday start while it's still dark, or maybe Thursday night.
With things drying out (lowering RH) and max of 1-2C I would expect for them to be making all day at this rate IMO.
Interesting twist to the "who's on first" comp brewing. A look at the Mid Station facebook page shows guns blazing up higher. maybe PV are pushing to open the quad to mid for the weekend too and claim the largest opening. https://www.facebook.com/Mid.Perisher.Centre/
I observe that the tail end of this thing should just move along now so we get some cold frosty snow making nights so i can take the kid skiing on the long weekend.
Raining steadily in Bondi (Syd), heavy showers out to sea. For shiz and giggles I checked the uppers -1/-9/-26, so that puts snow down to around 1100m above Sydney. Fun fact.
Well I observe guns blazing in Mt P!! Anyone else recall 2015? Perisher did a great job that year getting towers open. Ski over and bus back. Will be interesting to see how they go getting one of the chairs up and running. I'm not suggesting by the weekend........
Convoy of black security cars seen on the Monaro Hwy today. Special guest for opening weekend. That Vail cash - oh that marketing!!!!!!!!!
And for those of you playing at home another fun fact for today is that since leaving work this evening (Bondi) and it was blowing 35km/h out of the SE and a reading of 12.9C @ 6:30pm, putting the wind chill at +4.5C (gusts brought it down as low as +3.2C). That said, I am not sure I've seen the windchill that low in the past year or so.
