Mt Fainter, area of Mt Nelse, Mt Arthur.
Mt Bogong again at the bottom. West Peak is the main peak visible and appears to be the highest.
But it's not, the actual Mt Bogong summit is the one on the left.
I can see them all from my place. Quite spectacular mid-Winter when the real snow hits, this is just a tease..

Yes my skiing in recent years has been pretty irregular, part of the reason we now live in the mtns, at least now days off work whenever i can wangle them are ski days in winter and two older kids found their feey last season living locally and skiing regularly so can now ski most terrain in the NSW resorts. I now get to ski with them on weekends and still get my fill terrain/snow wise

interesting pic - really shows the concentrations of the NSW mtns as one(?) really long divide - with some spurs of course, vs. the Vic fields being more a series of islands and isolated ridges and bumps.

Pic clearly shows snow on Buffalo, Buller/Stirling/Howitt/ Snowy Range / Reynard complex, Pinnibar/Gibbo duplex and Davies Plain. I think I can make out smudges where BBaw and Lake Mtn complex lies - but it’s a bit of a guess.

Weather related on topic? the big Q - can anyone younger than 80 remember a 3 May that looks ‘this good’? It’s 3 weeks or so earlier than 2000’.

Nearly a month earlier than 2000. 27th May that year snow on Flinders Ra, Thredders got 50 cm. On Sun 28th Canberra temp range 2* to 4* with NRL game played in snow. Now someone can check Snowy Hydro graphs to see how 2020 compares to say 1964. ............W

The Fainters look prime for some plank action !!!. You could possibly get a mtn. bike up there from Big Hill Lookout with BC XC skis lashed to the bicycle!

Whops, '64 a dud but 1960 had dump mid April, a melt so 40 cm on May 1st.. 1972 had 30 cm mid Apr but all melted by 12th May. 1982 had a similar story and we now shudder at the thought of a repeat of that year! 190 10 cm 20th Apr but gone in a week, then nothing till June. 1996 25 cm mid Apr but melts in a week. 2006, another horror year also had an early May start. 2008 another 25 cm around Anzac day but lasts 10 days. 2009 50 cm dump very late Apr but gone by end May. That Snowy Hydro chart for Spencers Ck has come in handy. LOL. So that's only 7 years in the 65 years from 1954 to 2018... W

It would be a long ride....through snow. The West Kiewa fire trail gate is probably locked now.

That’s a low snow line even by winter standards. Close to 1000m +/-! Noice!

Further up it was the deepest I have driven in for years. Just getting to the Link road was a slog, from there only four took it on. Some shovel work required. Ultimately the random four where stymied by the armco drift.

Last one in behind us was a Landcruiser with chains.

    A fun day out

Amazing - It rarely looks that white in winter!

And remember that the sunny NW side of Feathertop - it burns off quite quickly most of the season!
